Way to go, ToBeMe. You sound like you've really got it together - and would make quite a catch, with that good attitude. :)

I don't date.

However, I don't care about how severely disabled or ugly someone is as long as that person can hold an interesting conversation and shows more than just a bit of curiosity regarding science.

I can't even vote on the poll, it does depend on how serious it is, I like doing alot of phyiscal activities with ppl, including my S.O. and I dunno if it would be possible to have a perfectly healthy relationship when the stuff i like to do with ppl couldn't be done.. I am not sure though, it's never happened to me so I can't say for sure.

if I was with a girl and something happened to her, and she had a disability afterwards I would stay with her spite of her disability.. obviously other possibilities for breaking up though.. :p

my regular dating involves dancing, hanging out in the town, making out with our own power and some outdoor activity. So if my S.O had a disability that puts them in a wheel chair, it would almost completely limit our activity.

I guess after my previous remark, the least I could do answer the damn question! ;)

Although I try and be a active person. (at least until I got hooked on this forum) I wouldn't have a problem dating someone with a disability. (Unless it were VERY debilitating)

As far as if I would dump someone I was already involved with if they DID develop a disability. I would hope it would make no difference. But to be honest, that is one of those things that until it DID happen most people (I think) can't really know what they would do. I think most of us would say it would make no difference, but you never really know...

Uhhhh.. probably not. It all depends on the disability of course, if she was blind/deaf/in a wheel chair, not to be mean or anything, hell no. I would find myself jealous of other couples who can freely do infinitely more activities with their partner then I could do with mine. This would lead to arguments and break-ups. Other disabilities are also a severe detraction, and would eventually lead to the previous scenario stated.

My friends would also laugh at me.

Let's turn the tables - if you were in a relationship with someone and you developed a physical disability, what would you do?

Knowing a little bit about the background of your posts, I don't know if I should answer this or not.

BUT

Knowing myself, I don't think I would want to be a burden to anyone else. So my actions would depend on the severity of the disability.

I wouldn't want anyone to have to center their life around caring for me. But then again, the biggest factor would be how THEY felt about it all!

To me it would depend what kind of disability. Mental disabilities are quite common but because we cannot see them are often ignored. While physical disability might be a challenge mental diability is much harder to live with.

<< I'm surprised no one who voted "no" hasn't posted yet. >>

I voted 'no', because I don't date. No exceptions.

I voted No, I'll post, but maybe I should have voted "Depends on how severe".

I could be good friends with a woman who had a disability, but I could never date her. This is assuming it's something that's a disability such as unable to walk. Blind I could probably deal with, deaf I could probably also. But I like to do active things, and if the person couldn't keep up with me that would be a severe problem in the relationship.

Let's see, my dad had polio, my brother, and two cousins are mentally retarded, my other brother is autistic, yeah, I think I could honestly say a disability is not a big thing to deal with for me. I would worry more about their treatment of me than their physical appearance.

I voted no. Kind of still in the I'm-young-and-want-to-do-everything-I-have-time-for phase, and I wouldn't pick a partner who would limit that. As callous as it sounds, I refuse to pick someone who would slow me down.

I do have a very much loved first cousin with Down's Syndrome, so it's not like I'm speaking out of disgust or anything.

Dude, talk to someone who has a disability and find out how much their life is worth. The people that I know would much rather be living, and they enjoy their lives very much.

Well ... the girl I really wanna go out with has a minor spine problem. Its not scoliosis .. it doesn't affect her at all. Its definately not stopping me with her.

But it does depend on what. If ^^^^^^^ can even be considered a disability.

Elledan, if you're checking back into this thread, turn on your PM's. I'm doing searches on flood evidence for you and they locked that thread.

Well, I'm certainly not going to drool over any 1 eyed, 6 breasted, 3 legged retarded bitch, but if it's something less minor I might be attracted. :D :)
