[POLL] Would you care?

Ameesh

Lifer
Recently, I was told that one of my posts hurt someones feelings. If someone told you that you made a post on an internet message board such as this one that hurt someones feelings , would you care?

would you feel bad or would you think that the person who's feelings got hurt is whiny crybaby?

No I would not care, unless it was a personal attack.

Personally I have absolutely no problems with your posts.

Well, it depends to whom it is done. Also, it doesn't really matter, not like people here will go and announce it on the TV or something...

no, if it was a stupid and inane reason.

yes if it was something i thought serious.

edit:

because i'm hardly ever serious here, i chose no.

depends on if i meant it to hurt someones feelings or not. If i did it intentionally then no i wouldnt feel bad.. that was the whole point.

The internet is typically for humorous conversation.
So offending people goes with that.

I'd care enough to evaluate whether the person is justified in having their feelings hurt... I guess it would be possible that I could post something without realizing how it could be interpretted -- unless I was intentionally posting something that I already knew could at least damage someone's ego. But, if I unintentionally was an ass and posted something that hurt someone's feelings... I'd probably apologize.

Their fault for taking it too seriously. If it's a personal remark, who cares? It's not like anyone here knows you well.

Personally I think you (Ameesh) are in the top 3 funniest people on AT. 🙂

depends on what was written

I assume he is referring to me b/c he PM'd me calling me a "tattle" after a mod messaged him about his posting.

He wrote in a thread to someone to go kill himself. I posted in the thread, replying to him, that he ought to edit his post.

He didn't, and I informed the mods. I've been here on AT for a few years now and I know the difference between joking posts and jabs and honest debate, which is fine.

As I posted above, do you feel posts telling people to go kill themself contributes to make AT forums an example of an online community? Would this violate our rules of discourse?

Post the guy's name whose feelings you hurt so I can laugh at him.

I would most definately get banned because the person in question will go crying to the mods again saying that i am picking on them.

This all goes back to too many idiots using the anonymity of the internet to be jackasses. So I don't take anything seriously. The people saying whatever don't truly know me and they likely wouldn't act the same way in person. On the other side, I try not to say anything truly mean.
