I found a few more "Bushisms" to add to my personl list during the debate (mostly paraphrased):

1) "I've spoken to the President of Mexico about helping him transport his oil up to the States so we can reduce our dependance on foreign oil."

2) "I feel that we should use the military to fight wars to prevent wars."

I also thought it was pretty funny when Gush said "We wouldn't want to use the Russians to help us if they didn't agree with us on the matter [of getting Milosevic out of office]," and Bore quickly responded "Well, they do [disagree with us]."

Bore was being a bit of an @$$ to the moderator towards the start when he ignored his requsts for him to stop talking. Gush was an @$$ at the end when he kept attacking Bore, though.

It wasn't as funny as I'd hoped it would be.:( Maybe Gush will slip up a few more times next time.:D

I'm curious as to why people thought Bush won the debate.

He made a mumbling mockery of himself, IMHO. He couldn't form fluid sentences, he contradicted himself numerous times and he would never elaborate on Gore's "Washington fuzzy logic" (well, we know that Bush didn't creat the internet, because fuzzy logic is an actual computer term. ;)).

I don't want alaska to be drilled for a few weeks/months of crude oil. Give me an electric car and the encouragement to companies to make and promote electric cars and natural gas buses (there are a few of those in my area...sooooo quiet and there is virtually no exhaust).

I WANT my grandparents to get money NOW. Bushlite can't deny that his plan would have to wait 4-5 years, its in his proposals.

He saw people who lived where there was a flood? That is his great qualification? Well, lets give him a Nobel Peace Prize...RIGHT THE HELL NOW! ;)

He interrupted Gore, he would not let him finish speaking on two occasions. The most Gore did to him was breath heavily while he was speaking...and he did that to Gore as well. In fact, the first time I heard that was when Gore was speaking in the beginning.

How about when Bush forgot what the question was. If you are so incompetant that you can't remember a question that was asked two minutes before, you don't deserve to be president and you cannot be trusted with talking to world leaders, both allies and enemies in treaties and agreements.

I could go on, but I have to get to sleep. Expect more commentary from me around 2:30 PM EDT tomorrow...like you care. ;)

I don't know who "won" the debates, but I do know that I hate Gore. Not only was he an ass to the moderator, but if I heard about the "wealthiest 1%" one more time, I was gonna croak. Beat it into the ground why don't ya!? Jeez!

Nader won the debate for not being aloud to be IN the debate.

See? He wins by default. :p

Nader hated the oh so innocent Corvair. He is the destroyer of all that is fun. That includes Volkswagens:( Well maybe not...but I he hates cars being used for fun, and that's why Dubs would be a lost cause if he was prez.

Oh well, he's probably smarter than the avuhrege politician!(yogi bear voice)

The winner is the person who is skeptical of both Bush and Gore; the person skeptical of both candidates' handlers.

Most of you are losers.

<< Most of you are losers. >>

This would be as in "Those who voted for Perot?"

Until this country goes to a direct poplular vote - doing away with the electoral college system - we're ALL losers.

Well, I think Gore won, but that was to be expected. He has far better speaking skills than Governor Bush. Both did better than I expected. Gore was actually fairly animated and non-wooden for a change, and Bush didn't bollix too many words or make many non-sensical statements (I only caught one). Bush has a tendency to throw out one-liners, and follow with a brief discussion of his plan. For the next debate, he would do well to skip the one-liners unless he plans a tour through the Borscht Belt next summer. Also, Bush has got to get control of that smirkey mouth. His mouth is like a worm looking to mate. Gore needs to lose about 5 pounds of makeup, which makes him look like a cross-dresser. He also has a slight lisp at times which I find annoying. Gore is also over-confident and a bit condescending, which won't go far with the American public. Too much noblesse oblige.

I was very, very, very pleased to hear Gore say he would support the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill which the Republicans loathe. Bush didn't do a good job explaining his objections to it.

Bush is against abortion, and that is his strongest asset from my view. He could have been more forceful rather than saying something like: "We need to limit abortions." Gore did a good job painting himself as pro-choice, which is pro-death to me. This is really the only issue I have with Gore, but it is an important one. I'll still vote for Gore though.

Gore did a better job painting his agenda than did Bush. Bush seemed diffuse, and not focused. The social security investment scam, er, scheme, is something that he got killed on. The Republicans need to deemphasize that hair-brained idea which will lose them a lot of support among seniors.

I don't think either candidate clearly enunciated their plans for medicare and prescription drugs. We need to know who is telling the truth and who is fudging. My instinct tells me Bush was fudging somewhat more than Gore.

Finally, I never thought I'd miss Clinton. One thing these debates highlight is what a smart guy we currently have for President compared to these two lightweights. I can't stand Clinton personally, but I do admire his brilliance.

Npoe. I'm an Independent. I think Bush 'Won'...on most points, but not nearly on all.

I was disappointed by both, Bush the least.

By a slim margin.

I'd vote for Bush before I bent over for Gore.

I'd rather vote for McCain, or Powell.

I think Bush did alot better than most thought he would. Gore was completely annoying, as usual.

UG, you ehcoed my feelings for the most part. I'd rather see McCain or Powell.

The bending over comment was pretty good too. :)

<< At least Gore didn't stutter most of the time. >>

Certainly dynamite qualifications for president.

Sorry big guy - I like you, but you've missed the point on this one.

Slick liar, or stuttering honesty?

BTW -

General Powell's wife informed him she'd be a divorcee, or a widow if he ran for president.

This country is no more mature enough to accept a black president, than a woman. Sadly enough.

Mr. Powell would be assassinated, because of his color. Guaranteed. how sad for us.
