I guess THIS is what happens when OTHER PEOPLE chose your running mate FOR YOU. I absolutely HATE Donald Trump, but also I am realistic. This is a weak ticket that will be on defense all thru the process, constantly dodging whatever Trump and Fox News tosses at them. And when they lose, I sure hope the politically correct of the democratic party can salvage some sort of moral victory out of their loss. I hate to say it but Joe Biden needed a man for the job. Could of been a black man or Hispanic man, but a man because this is no time to be politically correct. Not this time when up against the republican testosterone, and getting rid of Trump is so urgent. I'm feeling a Walter Mondale, Geraldine Ferraro re-do.

Reagan was ahead of Mondale by an average of 10 points at this time in the polls. Biden is now ahead by 8 points. That's an 18 point difference in the polling.

You are so far out on a limb here that you're going to look like a fool if Biden wins this.

So... since Biden is so.... moderate and not far left... I was kinda hoping for a more progressive VP.....

Is it safe to say that with Kamala that isn't the case?

He was also tied with Carter @ 39% each at this time in August '80. He ended up winning with almost 51% in November. Stuff can go weird.

Stuff can go weird, but not that weird. That was nowhere near the weirdness that Sportage is predicting. He's been predicting a Trump landslide. That isn't going to happen coming from an 8 point Biden lead in early-mid August.

Given the record low number of undecided voters at this point, the most likely assumption is that the outcome in November will be a 6-8 point victory for Biden. It may not turn out that way, but Sportage is not playing percentages here. He has his own pet theory.

One attack on Harris I know will come, Russians and Republicans will put out the notion she isn't really black and constantly point to her husband. Attempting to divide the black vote.

That's won't be successful but they think it will be.

The vast majority of their attacks on Harris aren't going to work on anyone outside their committed base, meaning that likely none of them will be effective.

Harris is...ehhhh.

She polled terrible with blacks.
Isn't white enough to help in the midwest.
Is vulnerable because of her prosecution and criminal reform history.

That said, I can't wait for her to disembowel Pence in the VP debate.

Booker didn't poll well in the primary either with African Americans. I think as VP the calculation will be different for voters since Biden has clinched already. Electablity concerns probably drove a lot of people into Biden's arms which are no longer relevant.

It's also impossible to convincingly paint her as a radical to the Dems growing suburban voting bloc. Trump and Pence are going to have a hard time going after her directly without further alienating female voters (she is not Clinton) so they'll have to deploy less useful surrogates instead. I can imagine few people Pence is less equipped to confront publicly.

Go back to sleep; we'll wake you when it's the 1950's again.

This is a general election, not a Democratic primary. Her record on criminal justice probably helps them, and polling well with black people is not the primary concern.

I saw some of Trump's presser where he got asked about her. He's got no idea what to do and fell back on old Clinton attacks.

Is the wife gonna allow Mikey in the same room with Harris?

My guess Pence will try the "aw shucks" Reagan approach and try to paint her as shrill and angry.

Yeah, but what was the problem with Hillary? Old, established... not progressive... Obviously, young people weren't a fan. They didn't show up. Who was her VP? Exactly the same as her.

Biden has plenty of the old and establishment democrats. It makes sense to have put up someone that was more progressive to try and bridge/excite both sides.

I suggest you go back and watch Harris's grilling of Bill Barr. I doubt she wilts easy

Trump lived off of Hillary hate that took decades to accumulate. Doesn't exist this time around.

well harris is the next president if Biden is elected in November. interesting choice for Biden picking someone who said a number of derogatory things about Biden in the past.
