Let's see...

Workstation: 2x AMD Opteron 240
Server: 2x AMD Athlon MP 2800+
Router: 1x Intel Pentium MMX 166
PVR: 1x AMD Athlon XP 2500+
Laptop: 1x Intel Pentium 3 650

Depending on how you figure it, I'm either 60% AMD or 71.4% AMD.

2500+
1.8 P4a
1.2 AMD
1.4 Celeron
550 P3
350 AMD

Laptops -

Mobile 1500+
500MHz P3

I'm about 4-4.

Though I voted AMD because the 1.8 I only use < 10 hours a week

the 1.4 Celeron is only used for web surfing

and the 500Mhz P3 has been replaced by a newer model :p

Everything else except the 350 gets used near daily.

This poll has been done before, and I am still surprised by the results. IMO the P4 has been such a strong overclocker for years that I would expect it to attract more enthusiasts. I am still using a P4 1.6A . . .

Marketing.

Intel has the name recognition for n00bs that AMD can't match. Plus, I'm sure Dell gets some special consideration (financially and developmentally) for being a solely Intel shop.

I think the Mobile Athlon XP-M and low prices of very good and stable SocketA boards has swayed quite a few. That and not EVERYBODY is looking to overclock. A lot just want the best bang for their buck, and right now that is Athlon-XP system.
I can get a Socket A board and CPU for less then $100 that is very stable and fast. Add in some cheap after rebate Ram, etc.. and there ya go....

Of course even with that said, I run a Athlon64 :)
