Obviously there's been a lot of threads recently about this perennial conflict. I know what the rabid partisans think but I'm curious about the other forum members. Personally, I think both share in the blame.

It is a mess. I think there is plenty of blame to go around. However I tend to side with Israel on most situations.

The people that do not want the conflict to end.

They get their jolly's from manipulating people.

how far back to you want to go?

regardless of who threw the first stone a few thousand years ago, at some point you've got to move on... the United States did some horrific things to the Native Americans, but we don't see suicide bombers in Washington DC trying to settle generations-old scores.

Obviously the terrorist group and not the country trying to stop that terrorist group from launching rockets at their cities.

Do you really have to ask this question?

I mostly blame Israel... for not escorting every last Palestinian into Syria several decades ago.

You might as well make a poll asking whether the moon landings were hoaxes, those guys have more credibility than the palestinian supporters.

Where's my option for arrogant, racist imperialist europeans?

If the europeans hadn't persecuted the Jews so relentlessly for so long, culminating in the holocaust... if the europeans hadn't arrogantly attempted to carve up and control the middle east....

Of course now they get to play neutral party to the mess they created... while the Arabs and Jews fight it out, they get to sit in judgement... must be nice.

if the Romans had never conquered the middle east, would Judaism have ever branched off into Christianity and Islam?

The Israelis have made mistakes in the past, but the majority of the blame rests on Palestinian terrorist groups and/or their "friends."

Extremely badly thought out poll answers in MHO.

There were two groups with citizen ship within the former British mandate on the Day the Israeli State was created by the UN in 1948.

1. Israeli Jews and among them were many very Organized well armed Jewish terrorist.

2. Arabs and Palestinians that were born there and had lived there for centuries. With that group being not well organized and not well armed.

Then there was that other external group outside of the former British Palestine mandate

3. The set of surrounding Arab nations that had standing armies and heavy weapons.
And it was that third group of Arab Nation rascals that declared war on Israel, were the initial aggressors, and if anything they are the poll answer we should be blaming.

Sadly, Israel, after kicking the butts of the aggressor Arab nations did something unconscionable, they blamed Arab Nation's aggression on the Palestinians who had nothing to do with the real rascals, then stole their land, and banished the Palestinians into concentration camps. And there they have been ever since, and finally the larger world is waking up to the real historical fact that the Palestinians were robbed by Israeli Jews simply because they were weak and defenseless. And this crap that the Jews were the victims of Palestinians is the biggest lie in the world.

You should consider a career in childrens fiction... you clearly have a gift for making up stories, and omitting the truth.

The "israeli terrorists" were fighting against the British, who were refusing to allow Jewish refugees from europe into Palestine.

The Arabs/Palestinians were a mix including both Arabs who had indeed been there for generations and recent Arab immigrants. There was a pretty substantial population of Jews there for generations as well... particularly in Jerusalem.

Funny how the "concentration camps" were ruled by Egypt and Jordan for 19 years...

If you don;t know, why do you not read unbiased articles on the history of Israel after its formation in 1948 and become informed?

If you read only biased Israeli accounts, or biased Arab articles for that matter, you will learn only propaganda and learn nothing of the real truth.

LL - simple question:
When were the camps/concentration cities created and what entity was in control of that area at the time?

That is a factual question - not a subjective opinion

I'd say the Palestinians, but there's enough bloodshed back and forth between the two sides to call it a draw.

I think the blame rests solely with those pesky little amino acids, so many millions of years ago, that combined to form the first protein and, thereby, started life on Earth.

As a result of negotiations at Camp David and Taba, Israel offered to turn over 97% of the West Bank and all of Gaza, as well as Arab sections of Jerusalem.

Question: Does anyone know why this offer was turned down by the Palestinians?

The Palestinians are to blame for not winning the war and finishing Hitler's work in 1948, like they tried.

The Israelis are to blame for not finishing the Palestinian problem by expelling them from Gaza and the West Bank in 1967, then again during the peace accords in 1981 and 1994 (Egypt and Jordan), where Israel wasn't smart enough to make them take back this land. Then Israelis are idiots for negotiating with Arafat, providing them weapons and generally, through a weak handed policy, make them think they could somehow dissolve Israel if they can only keep up for just a little longer.

Overall, this is the fault of Israel that 62 years after the war the Arabs lost, there's still a problem of any kind.

I tend to side with Israel, but they haven't exactly done everything right. The Palestinians haven't been very nice to them either, though (which is why they got kicked into Gaza).
