Zippy,

That last one you linked is the best looking yet. Too bad it's a Citizen.

One other thing. Stay away from shiny steel. It looks cheap. A matt, or muted finish looks much better.

Wenger

Another wenger

Actually, those wenger's aren't that great...the face is too circular (it's like a circle with a band attached) and the bumpy dial is kinda ugly.

Russ, do you mean the nixon is the nicest or the eco drive with the blue face?

Zippy,

The Eco with the blue dial. You slipped the Nixon in there while I was typing. The Nixon isn't bad either, but the Eco is more muted, so it looks more expensive.

Yeah, I am really leaning towards the eco-drive with the blue face too.

If you click the special offer link it sends you an email with a, yes, you guessed it, special offer. So that eco drive would be $195, then there is a $35 off 100 coupon. $160 is a pretty nice deal for that watch, especially considering that includes overnight, same day shipping.

Haha! You don't really have a rolex do you? Seems like a big ol' waste of money. :p BTW, my friend got a folex in New York City that looks EXACTLY (and I mean EXACTLY) like that! LOL!

Zippy,

I got it right around the time you were born. They weren't quite as expensive then. And, anybody who knows watches could tell your friend's was a fake without even touching it. For one thing, it will be a quartz movement. Rolexes are mechanical.

Oh, and BTW, as for a Rolex being a waste of money. It's worth far more today then what it cost me. How many watches can you say that about?

Russ, true, true. However, did you know that when you bought it? :)

It's a watch...it tells time...a watch would have to make my coffee, bed, play the flute, and give me a swedish massage if I was going to pay a few thousand dollars for it.

Zippy,

Of course I knew it when I bought it. It's not like Rolex is a new company. My boss at the time had a President in 18K that he'd purchased about ten years before that for $2600. Check and see what the same watch costs today.

There's telling time, and there's TELLING time.

I rarely wear it anymore, though, for the same reason I no longer drive a Corvette. It's just not important anymore.

I really don't like any of them. Just my personal opinion. I'd lean towards Swiss Army watches.

Russ: Watches are like clothes; if they fit they can be worn with style, if they dont they look ordinary and cheap, even if its a rolex. A watch isnt supposed to hang over your hand and a rolex worn like that makes the guy wearing it look like a pompous @$$ w/o any class and style, even if he is wearing an armani suit (which will most likely in that price catagory :D )

Zippy: Check out the watches at www.swissarmy.com, they have some pretty stylish and first-class watches.

#2 is good. A step up from #1.

#5 looks like an old man's watch (30 yrs + )

Zippy, is this watch for everyday wear or....??? Tough to choose a watch without knowing what you're going to be doing while wearing it. Boberfett's right, the Movado watches are very nice, but a teen in board shorts and Chuck Taylors would look pretty silly wearing 'em. :) If you're going for a watch that will look nice with khakis and a polo shirt OR jeans, etc. try the Wenger Battalion Field watch - it looks much better than in the Ashford pics and wouldn't look goofy. For dress wear I'd go with Russ's suggestions: brushed, matte stainless steel rather than shiny, and keep the dial simple and classy instead of cluttered and "Inspector Gadget" looking.
