Picking up a penny is supposed to be "good luck".

One day, on my way to work, I stopped at a gas station to get a coke. On my way to the cashier I noticed a penny on the ground and picked it up, thinking, this will be a good day!

Five minutes later I arrived at the office only to see the events unfolding on September 11, 2001.

I have not picked up a coin since.

There is a site somewhere that lists the smallest amount super-rich people like bill gates should bother to pick up. They figure it something like this ... it takes roughly 3 seconds to pick up a coin on the floor, if somebodies total inclome/year divided by seconds is > trhen the amount of the coin, they shouldn't bother. bill gates's number was something like $300 :Q

I'm cheap ... I'll always pick up a penny if I'm not in a rush and its not to skanky.

If I already had a few pennys in my pocket, I wouldn't bother picking one up. I just like to have change in my pocket, so I don't have to bother breaking a larger bill for the sake of a few cents.

I pick up any money I find. Last year in college I kept a record of every coin/bill I found. I ended up with over $30.00, not much, but not bad considering there was over $10.00 in pennies alone! So far this year pickings have been slim, but go to vending machines and look on top and under them, I've picked up several bucks in change per machine that way. I metal detect often, so I view this as an easier way to find money
