Flying. Arouns $100/hour just for instructions before you even think about buying, insuring, and fueling your own plane.

How isn't a plane expensive?

You could make any of those hobbies the most expensive however

Microsoft Trackball Explorer: $40

1800+: $48
512MB RAM: $76
Infotek 9600XT:$ 170
Shuttle AN35N-Ultra: $65
Shuttle acts like I never sent in the rebate form. I think it was this mobo that caused problems with the video cards.
Samsung P80 160GB: $95
SK-7: $15
AX-7: $15
Panaflo L1A: $5
Zalman ZM80C: $30

Leadtek 5900XT: $186, then $10 shipping back for RMA.

DFI NFII Ultra-AL: $71
Philips PSC805: $99
I can't believe how much it went down in cost in just a year.
Lite-On 812S: $76

...computers, w/o a doubt.

Agreed...

Horses (come types of competition) can be pretty expensive.

Let's go conservative and say $5,000 for a horse.
$1,000 for tack.
$350/month for boarding.
$50/lesson once a week.
$1200 for 2 months of training.
$70/farrier (horseshoes) once a month or more.
$200 vet bills every few months.

Now, bear in mind that you can pretty easily drop $20,000-30,000 on the initial horse purchase. You can pay $1500 for a saddle, not to mention several hundred for the other tack. Training and boarding can be far more expensive if you do anything beyond the basics. Add in competition fees, transportation, etc...

It depends on how much you have to spend.

I would consider Flying as having the highest entry level cost ... Thousands of dollars and many hours just to get licensed, and then loads more to rent/lease/borrow a plane. Loads more for maintenance, Lots for fuel, etc.

The other things you can start off pretty inexpensive in comparison
... a sub $500 PC will go far depending upon what you want to do with it.
... You can spend under a grand and wind up with a decent CRT 30 or so inch TV and a cheap dd5.1 sound system with DVD
... You can get started with $6 disposable cameras
... Ever hear of Huffy? $100 for a bike
... Video Stuff .. I assume you mean Camcorder/Video camera etc ... well, I've seen entry level ones under $500
... How much do stickers cost, 5 or 10 bucks?
... Skiiing, you can rent skis, drive to a lodge, pay maybe 300 or 400 bucks for a weekend ski trip if you are cheap and find a place that's not too expensive
... Collection, Depends upon what your collecting.

Of course there's the mid range and higher end spectrum as well ....
... Nforce 4 SLI box with FX55 and all SCSI storage and multiple large LCD displays .... 5 or 8 Gs maybe? (of course no hardcore computer hobbiest stops at one PC, so multiply by 5 or 6 for the total cost of all the various boxes on the lan)
... UXGA projector, amplifiers for each channel, preamps, mixer, Speakers that can handle massive amounts of power with very low THD as well as excellent seperation, soundproofing the room, theatre style seating, etc .... I dunno, maybe 60 Grand, though I'm sure you could go MUCH higher
... Dunno enough about photography to comment. Though I know high end cameras with all their accessories are well over 2 grand
... Biking, well ... a Couple grand for a nice bike, figure you would want a nice mountain bike, a nice road bike, maybe a hybrid as well ... probably 7 or 8 grand and Up
... Video stuff ... totally ignorant here
... Cars ... I assume if you put in a big MOPAR or Chevy motor, supercharger, etc ... it will wind up costing quite a lot .. probably well over 100G's if you want to spend that much
... Skiing .. Well, if you wanted to say, Ski down Everest, I know it would cost A LOT
... Collection ... depends
... Flying ... The Sky is the limmit!

Flying if you buy a plane. Initial licensing is about $5K, and fuel costs are up there even if you're just renting.

High end photography is pretty damn insane though. A pro-level digital camera is $8,000 and that's without lenses, which can cost several thousand each for the top ones. Add in multiple lenses, filters, flashes, tripods, and various other equipment INCLUDING a high end computer and photo printer, and you're talking serious dollars.

You could add scuba to the list, especially if you're not near scuba sites so traveling costs are included. Equipment for that can get very expensive, especially for technical diving (caves, wrecks).

Pretty much any hobby can be taken to expensive extremes. How about automatic weapons collecting? A good MP5 will run $8,000 or more with rare guns costing much, much higher.

And, with the exception of flying, I'm interested in all of them. :(

Collections are usually more expensive than other hobbies.

Having said that, people going into crappy martial arts dojos and thiking they can hold their own in dangerous situations = most expensive hobby.

yes, it could cost them their life....which is priceless, according to MC commercials

Well, no - if they're dumbasses enough to join crap, then it's darwin at work, I say - just that all their monthly fees and equipment . . . and their PRIDE (muahahaha) when I, er, "they" routinely mock them and beat them.
