The original Super Nintendo all the way.
Zelda, Metroid, even the first game, Super Mario World was incredible.

Oh wow I forgot the Final Fantasy games

Those games took a significant portion of my life away, especially 3 (US version)

SNES - Best system its time. I still know many people who play it to this very
NES - Well i guess i would of also enjoyed this system if i wasnt so young at the time it was hot. I only played 8-10 games on it.
Sega Genesis - Very fun games. Sonic was the best and so was Sega Channel, that thing was awesome

Sega Channel was so cool... believe it was like 40 dollars a month plus your cable bill and you got a hmm id say like mabye around 40 games each month.

SNES.

That was the console that made me say WOW when I played a new game. My original nintendo was cool when it came out, but it was the SNES that made me feel like I was playing in the arcade. Consoles since then are pretty cool but none have had the same WOW factor of the SNES. Street fighter 2 turbo, Mortal Kombat, and Mario Kart were awsome! Mario Kart is probably my all time favorite console game. Though my all time favorite sports game is mutant league football for genesis.

I worked at Babbages in High School, and I had a nintendo, supernintendo , gameboy, atari lynx, and genesis. I didn't own hardly any games becuase we could take home any we wanted and try out for a few days at a time. I played tones of games, but almost always liked the SNES games the best.

You seem to have missed:
Odyssey ][
and
Coleco Adam
and
Vectrex....

There will always be a special place in my heart for Odyssey, my first "computer."
My favorite goes to Atari 400. Mine is still in perfect working order with the phatty p!mped-out Atari 800 keyboard.
Honorable mention to ColecoVision and DreamCast.

Wasn't coleco Adam a computer? I vaguely recall vectrex or odyssey ][. Does anybody have any info on these 2 systems? Do they use cartridges?

Once again... Feel free to use http://www.slcentral.com/agurusworld/28/ as a reference. ;)

Odyssey II took cartridges (to answer your question). It succeeded overseas, but flopped in the US. It had an integrated keyboard and few "game" titles and was considered more of a computer than a game console.

ADAM was just a ColecoVision expansion module to make a ColecoVision into a computer. Even though I had one and used it to pirate many games and phone phreak many LD codes using a War Games dialer.... it's still just a ColecoVision.

The Vectrex is often called "the holy grail" of the computer industry. It was the greatest. Had a built in vector monitor and 90% of the games made for it were arcade titles.

I would have to say the Dreamcast because it's my first system since the pong game that I got as a child in the 70's. ;)

What's a cool bang for the buck system that I could get now? Well.. Besides the Dreamcast.. Can one of these outdated systems be found for cheap along with the games?
