Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800 are pretty different consoles. The 5200 wouldn't even play 2600 cartridges. I don't think they should be grouped together.

Where's Intellivision? Man... Sea Battle was a GREAT multiplayer game!

I voted ColecoVision. Lots of time invested into Time Pilot. I almost voted TurboGrafx16 as I put an equal amount of time into Galaga '90.

Perhaps use this (shameless plug) as a reference. ;)

Aside from the great classics that have already been mentioned above, I will have to cast a vote for Goldeneye on the N64. I still play that to this day!

NES and SNES is my favorite systems of all time.

The favorite games of all time are the series: Metroid, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Mario Bros.
I must have played through each of those games and their reincarnations at least half a dozen to a dozen times!

Tsk, Tsk....

Some of your answers dissappoint me. Playstation?! No, No, No. N64?! Possibly, but only because of Zelda.

Then what's the best of the best you ask? Well it's a toss up between the NES, SNES and Genesis.

NES had:

Metroid (you don't want to know how many times I've beaten this game......it's friggin AWESOME!!)
Zelda <---- where it all started
Zelda 2 <---- second only to Metroid
River City Ransom (pepper steak anyone ;))

Genesis had:

Sonic series
Gunstar Heroes (what a brilliant game)
Phantasy Star 4

SNES had:

Super Metroid (like you didn't see that coming ;))
Final Fantasy series

Mmmmmm.......I think I need to go dowload me some roms :D

As far as I'm concerned, the NES and SNES were 50X better than any game console today. They may not be as powerful but the games were MUCH MUCH MUCH better.
