Home: 3MB/320kb Cable

Work: As fast as the 100Mb Switch can handle the traffic. (If we had an ethernet switch *edit* fast enough, theoretically it would be OC-192 (gotta love working for the national backbone provider.)

"ya know, just a question.. why is it that everywhere i see a connection speed, it always goes 56k, cable, then dsl, as if dsl were faster than cable?"

I'm guessing caust most people don't give a damn how fast YOU download, then want to know how fast you can upload. And generally cable is capped iat 128kb/s.

And that being the case I have both cable (max sustained ever was like 620KB/s, download), and I also have SDSL 384/384kb/s which works out to aobut 40KB/s after overhead.

DSL
256K/1.5MB

the speed is great (although cable was faster), but the reliability is top-notch.
i haven't had not 1 day of downtime in over 1 and a 1/2 years of service.

switched from cable because it was so damn unreliable (although is was blazing fast). generally, when my cable worked, speeds were about 1MB/3MB.

also, pings are better and more consistant on my dsl than on cable.

At work: DSL 144 down/ 144 up I used to think this was so fast when I was stuck on my 56K

now at home: DSL 768 down (I see around 680)/ 128 up.

Currently running on AOL @ 56k 😛 Well, NetZero and Bluelight for Anandtech posting. But next month I should be getting cable or DSL.
