Perhaps this may not fit in with whatever angle you have designed for these poll questions, but how about adding the EU in as one of the institutions whose confidence level we're examining?

(Yes, I know some might nitpick and ask whether we're talking about the EU as a political or economic body, but the two are closely enough related to be considered together IMHO).

The EU, the UN, and NATO would all be good things to poll the support of. However those may steer this into just another political rant fest;) Maybe those can be asked in a different poll. Thanks for the suggestion though.

most of these polls are missing the "NONE" option so I voted for very little.

Just a clarification for everyone. These are questions on the INSTITUTION - not necessarily who is running them. IE - if you have a bone to pick with the police chief - I don't care. The question is do you have faith in the institution.

Just wanted to clarify that.

Info - source will be later. It may skew the results. I want people to answer honestly first and then we will compare.

It is difficult to evaluate an "institution" as it applies to one with few or one person.

Take the Presidency. What inherent qualities are there without and individual to give it meaning and context? Otherwise it's just an abstraction given existence by mention in the Constitution.

It's like asking about your confidence in sand. It is IMO a meaningless question.

Since this presidency, I have lost a lot of faith in the institution of the Presidency. I think Congress has given way too much of its power (i.e., war powers act). As it is now I don't think there's enough check on the presidency in our checks and balances system. For that reason, I voted low faith in the presidency.

Since this presidency, I have gained a lot of faith in the institution of the Presidency. I think Congress has given serious thought to the power it has delegated to the executive branch (i.e., war powers act). As it is now I think there's enough check on the presidency in our checks and balances system. For that reason, I voted a great deal of faith in the presidency.

I see you followed my advice about taking a post and putting it in negative form. Kudos! (I must say it prefer it to the posts where you just put in a smiley face and a quip. Thanks. )

Do you think the president or congress should make the decision to go to war? Did you know in the constitution the congress is supposed to have this power?

Military: Some *military intelligence truly is an oxymoron*
Police: Great Deal *although I?m always afraid they're going to send me to jail again*
Church: Some *more with small groups of people of faith*
Banks: Quite a lot *but not the overall money-system*
Presidency: Some *the US is to big for what presidency is intended for*

Pray tell why you have faith in the banks? Do you even know how they operate?

They take the money we deposit, then lend out 10-fold what we lent them. What's that, where did that 10-fold new money come from? Ah that's the beauty of it...

Or Congress needs money, they ask the Fed to print money for them. The Fed pays the printing press a token fee to print the paper, then the Fed takes that money to Congress as a loan and earns enormous interest off it.

Making money out of nothing... It's good to be a banker.

Yep, it certainly is. Billions of dollars each year, risk free.

Have you ever read The Creature From Jekyll Island by Edward Griffin?

No, but I have read:

The Case Against the Fed

and

What Has Government Done to Our Money?

both by Murray N. Rothbard.

Right now I'm reading The Theory of Money and Credit by Ludwig von Mises.

You are missing some options in your polls CAD. I have 0 confidence in Organized Religion. Some just doesn't cover it.
