I think I've posted this a long time back but I'm curious since min wage changes fairly frequently. What is the min wage where you live and or work?

Here they are just about to raise it to $10/hr Canadian, similar to us since our currencies are close.

Is that $20 in US or Euros? I'm assuming 20 US, $20EU would be wow 😛

According to wikipedia

No minimum wage nationally; instead, negotiated between unions and employer associations; 103.15 kroner per hour, according to statistics released on March 1, 2009

~$20 USD

Sweet, course a lot of that goes to taxes but then they also have VERY good public services. Woudln't mind living somewhere like that if I spoke the language.

Minimum wage in Uganda is ~ $2.50/month. Might as well not have one. :\

Isn't that an average? I'd be surprised if they actually had an official min wage that was enforceable. Course they have so many other problems besides low wages like AIDS epidemic, violence, lack of clean water etc etc...

True. We can't even enforce a minimum wage here (illegals/undocumented workers).

There's ALWAYS someone willing to work for less. When I was working in Asia, there was always a poorer country with people ready and willing to be exploited. For instance, Thailand minimum wage out the boondocks is/was about $5/day, but Burmese could be hired for half that - plus the employer didn't have to pay any of the employment taxes, social security, etc., involved with Thai citizens. Then when the employees were injured due to the god awful working conditions, no worries of legal action as the police would throw them in jail or send them back to Burma since they weren't citizens (plus the police are always paid off to look the other way anyway).

indeed. I haven't worked in Asia but I've lived there.

You'd be surprised how many minimum wage jobs require 2+ years experience.

Just trying to be a fucking bus boy requires 2 years of experience. WTF IS THERE TO BE EXPERIENCED ABOUT?

LOL you take what they write down there seriously? Come on, they write down tons of shit for requirements on most any job and most of the time you don't need 1/2 that stuff even for high paying jobs. For min wage jobs they often take any warm body they can find. The requirements they list are just their ideal candidate. If you take that attitude you will NEVER have a job.
