Microwaved or ovened is the only way to eat left over pizza. Eating it cold is NASTY and I think people only do it because it's trendy.

spidey07's description of the pan-searing method

Get out of the house once in a while and you'll realize that most high-quality Steak Houses sear steaks in a similar manner.

I love a nice grilled steak, but pan-searing is still a superior cooking method.

sorry I disagree, I've had both. You lose the grill taste when you pan sear.
With a superior cut of steak, meat flavor > charcoal flavor.

Trendy? WTF? People have been doing this for years. There's nothing trendy about it. You must be 12.

searing a steak is an excellent method to cooking a steak..
burgers are for the grill and some steaks and some chicken
searing is for great steaks that have the best meat flavor
why ruin the flavor of a great steak by infusing charcoal flavor into it? blech, charcoal flavor is good on some steak, but not on the more expensive cuts

and i used to work at a restaurant, our steaks were cooked in a broiler
and yes, they were some of the BEST steaks i've ever had
using a broiler in an oven is a great way (other than using a horribly expensive REAL, standalone broiler) to get great tasting steaks
i've never really had any steak from a pan, but from inside an oven, off the broiler... mmmm

Eating pizza cold is the sin.

Leftover pizza is only to be eaten cold and from the box.

FTW!

agreed...searing a steak in a cast iron pan is very good...

1 boneless rib eye steak, 1 1/2-inch thick
Canola oil to coat
Kosher salt and ground black pepper

Place 10 to 12-inch cast iron skillet in oven and heat oven to 500 degrees. Bring steak(s) to room temperature.

When oven reaches temperature, remove pan and place on range over high heat. Coat steak lightly with oil and season both sides with a generous pinch of salt. Grind on black pepper to taste.

Immediately place steak in the middle of hot, dry pan. Cook 30 seconds without moving. Turn with tongs and cook another 30 seconds, then put the pan straight into the oven for 2 minutes. Flip steak and cook for another 2 minutes. (This time is for medium rare steaks. If you prefer medium, add a minute to both of the oven turns.)

Remove steak from pan, cover loosely with foil, and rest for 2 minutes. Serve whole or slice thin and fan onto plate.

So very true. Its like they've never eaten at a nice restaurant or something. Their version of a good steak is texas roadhouse.

Agreed, particularly if it's a cast iron pan.

yeah, don't forget the yummy bits!

add wine, deglaze put some shallots/garlic in, finish off with some butter to take the acidity out. (you can add some beef stock as well if you need more moisture)

mmmmmmmm

Steaks are fine pan fried if they're marinated/seasoned.
Pizza, on the other hand, tastes absolutely horrible microwaved. Toaster ovens are the best for reheating left over pizza.

If you pan-fry a nice steak there is something fundamentally wrong with you. Pizza reheated isn't my preference, but hey now, Steak (capital S) is a different matter :p
