as a matter of fact im going out tonight with a major, old neighborhood friend of mine , he flys the pres around in the presidential helo.....
he's in boston today.....

in two years will serve in the IDF as every citizen of Israel is obligated (male and female).
i like it. i think i will serve in our army's intelligence forces in the computer part. dont know how its called in english. i know its a lot of fun but very hard to get there.

Wolf,

I think that is a great system and wish we had it in the US. I know of very few people who were in the service and dont say it benefited them greatly in the rest of their lives.

i agree with you MAX ,,,,,only problem ........

if your israelie , whats the chance especially latly that you will be shot at in anger ???? 5-1?

just an observation...obviously with everything thats going on over there....i do agree with at least 2 years mandatory for everyone that graduates high school , 4 for dropouts......

Dont even open up that can of worms. It is beneath you. I would have expected an answer like that from 403 or DABANSHEE. I almost put in a clause about the people that were killed but thought less was more in this case. I really was speaking about the self confidence, discipline and maturation that comes from Military service.

I was in from 63-67, volunteered for Viet Nam as a Chopper pilot, but didnt get selected. Offered to switch to the Army as a 2nt and you know what happened to most of them. The war really escalated after I got out but was active before also. Does that make me Nuts. Ive always admitted that I am but I was also young in those days.
