Of the two choices, I'd go with the Westinghouse.
The only reason is it's flexibility.
Our house has a very well-lighted interior. I could use the Westinghouse anywhere but I'd be hard-pressed to find a spot where the Panny would work out.

Actually, I wouldn't buy either for myself.
I'm in the market for a 42" Plasma or LCD. I hope to find the right deal on Black Friday.
Wish me luck!!!

I just got back from BB, the Westinghouse looked like crap compared to virtually all the other LCD's, the Sharp LCD's looked like awesome, am going to wait for a while prior to buying another (already have a Sceptre 30" in the exercise room) and see if the upper end stuff comes down a bit in price as production ramps up next spring as it's supposed to.

Go with White Westinghouse over Panasonic, and for the Service agreement I can honestly say that it is worth it.
I work for NEW that handles the BB Service Agreement, and my daily job involves working with all the parts that have been ordered by technicians on TV's appliances etc that need repair. The plan handles everything even cosmetic damage. Just don't drop the TV or cause damage to it, and you wil be fine. The plan covers the rest.. whether the bulb goes out or a light engine.
Also we run into with the plan sometimes the parts can be on BO for quite awhile, take comfort in knowing that you can request an exchange if the parts dont arrive within 35 days.
But White westinghouse over Panasonic due to the fact that we rarely run into any parts ordered for White.. Samsung,Panasonic and Sharp have there share of problems, and are the ones that parts are ordered for the most and broke down the most.

It seems to be a choice between a smaller, but very good, LCD vs. a big but mediocre LCD RPTV for more money.

Westinghouse:
+ very good picture, no ghosting according to AVS (should be good for games too)
+ MUCH cheaper
- no HDMI just DVI-D (, component, VGA, S-Video) -- do most HD cable boxes have DVI-D??

Panny:
+ big
- weak at standard-def
- person claims the HDMI connector doesn't actually work right? Might be fine for cable

I'd rather have a very good display than a big display, but I'm not that price-conscious (please don't ban me from GD! ;) ) so I'll probably be buying a big expensive display.

2-years (mfr + CC) warranty vs. 4 years doesn't seem worth paying an extra $200 for ... unless as above you use it to get some stacking so you're not really paying $200 ($100 would be worth it to me).

You can get HDMI to DVI adapters/cables, and the warranty is only $130, we're still not sure if the CC would add a year onto the 4, or just be included. I'm betting it'd add on, so that'd be 5 years of warranty rather than just 2, for $130. If it gets them to allow the 10% off too, than that's $90 less, which means the warranty is only $40.

is there such a thing?

Yes

I have a brand new Westinghouse 32" LCD sitting in my livingroom. They wouldn't accept the $264 BBB and 10% coupon, so I just used the coupon. I use the BBB to buy a $115 laptop on Black Friday then sell it for around $600.

BBB are a wonderful thing. Living in VT, I didn't even have to put return postage in, so it cost me about $.40 per buck I got back, I did it 100 times and bought a bunch of stuff, basically saved me $60 on things I probably would've bought anyways.

If you already have a large tv(40"+), then I would get the westinghouse. Ortherwise I would get the Panasonic.

Microcenter bottom of the page.

I dont think that particular model is worth it. The westinghouse 37inch 1080P has come close to that price several times.

I picked one of these up today at ShopKo from $899, I PM'd to Bestbuy so they knocked it down from $1299 to $899. So if BestBuy is OOS do the same, as Shopko will have the set on sale Friday for $899 as well.

Awesome tv for the money, PC looks just as good hooked up to the 32" as my 2405.

How do you get the 10% coupon. And how do you get the BBB for $264? Guess I'm a noob at this. Also, the TV is listed at $899 not $809?

Best
Buy
Bucks are from the monopoly Mcdonalds game, so you can't get those anymore. $809 is the price after the 10% for signing up for a RewardZone membership.
