Exactly

So? Life on other planets != UFOs. If you accept nearly infinite stars and nearly infinite planets, you obviously come up with a huge number of planets capable of supporting life. You then contemplate that even for a planet that CAN support intelligent life to have undergone the exact freak occurances that allowed the life to prosper and the number is greatly reduced. Get rid of the ones where is only bacteria, virii and the like. Scratch out the ones where cataclysmic events didn't allow intelligent humanoids to develop and they're dominated by birds, reptiles, insects, etc. Erase those that have humanoid life, but where such life is not capable of interstellar travel. What's left? Seriously, how many worlds do you think are out there filled with humanoid life sitting around in their spaceships? Now, let's let those few worlds deal with vast distances and ungodly time periods needed to travel between stars even at light speed. So even if you accept all those things and invent some physics allowing them to travel here, you still think that such an evolved, intelligent race would come all the way to earth just so they can grab a flashlight and go sight-seeing in some hicks ass?

The people that believe in UFOs are the same people that believe that Elvis is alive. They believe because they WANT to believe, so they'll grasp at any straws necessary to maintain their illusions. They create Walter Mitty-ish fantasy worlds where the aliens will come to take them to a better life because they're failing so miserably at this life.

i'm guessing you're one of those that think the moon landing was a hoax...
following the declassification of military documents under the Freedom of Information Act during the 1990's alot of pilot accounts of disc shaped UFO's were reported, and they were definetly not ours.

JFK launched the space race and within 10 years we put a man on the moon. our space program would be much farther if we put more money into it instead of $250-400 billion military annually vs. $14 billion NASA. oh but the USSR is a threat no more, so no need to advance the space program.

although some conspiracy theorists beleive the massive military budget with the tiny space budget is just a cover-up as large undisclosed amounts of the military budget are used for secret projects related to backwards engineering downed spacecraft so we can rebuild our own and want to keep it a secret from other nations. the aurora can't cost THAT much can it...
(think of the movie independence day, or even MiB)

ROFLMAO!!! Independence Day? Men in Black? What sort of drugs are you on, you base your thinking on Hollywood? Who care how much money JFK put into the space program or how much other presidents didn't? The moon was an easily reachable target, OTHER STAR SYSTEMS ARE NOT. What, you think another couple of billion is going to change the laws of physics? You honestly believe that not only is there life on other planets, but that it's evolved into sentient humanoids which then mastered instellar travel and came millions of light years to crawl into some hicks nether regions with a proctoscope? Quite frankly I'll welcome the aliens because clearly we're short on intelligent people down here. Have fun watching the skies moonbeam, when the mothership lands tell Gort "Klaatu barada nikto".

How do you know creatures on another planet would behave just like us? Maybe they are peaceful towards each other and don't destroy themselves like we do.

You know what I have always wondered? What if the conditions on Earth aren't the only conditions under which life can occur? I mean, these conditions are all we know, but what if there are creatures on another planet that are able to thrive in a completely different atmosphere and environment?

exactly. we judge "life" based on a scale that we have lived in our entire lives. he have no idea what a good definition of life really is in universal terms. but...on a less intangible level, if europa (within our own solar system) can be considered by our own standards to perhaps be eventually able to sustain the same kind of life that our planet does, then to think that this does not happen in every other system is absurd.

maybe people who believe simply do so becuase they want to...but...eh, i dont see anything wrong in wanting to believe there is a greater structure to the universe than the simplicity and singularity of our way of life.

Unidentified Flying Object, I see them daily! ;)

UFOs exist, but UFO does not mean Flying Saucer or Aliens.
