2pac. never liked biggie. i can tolerate like 2-3 tracks, but thats about it.

Oh, true. I won't deny that Biggie wasn't bad, I listened to some of his stuff...Juicy, Goin' Back to Cali, etc
yep. i agree. but honestly, i dont need to hear a skit about him defacting on a girl. (was kinda funny though). iunno, pac always came more real, he had a better style, flow, and lyrics. he would tell a story with his lyrics, and it came out good. 1 month away from the makaveli predicted 7 years.

True. And, Pac, he could bring you up with one song and then tell a totally different story in another thats depressing. He was amazing. Yep, Sept 13th is the day. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

What's expected to happen? Is that supposed to be his 'return from the dead', and if so, what song (?) is it referenced in? I dunno too much about that whole thing.

huge tupac fan, and a huge biggie fan. For sheer #'s of great songs, I'd take Tupac, but Biggie has some amazing songs too. They both released classic albums. rip

Tupac utilized rather simple rhyme schemes and eschewed from the use of metaphor and simile. His strength was his charismatic delivery. Notorious BIG?s lyrics, on the otherhand, were ten times as sophisticated as Tupac?s.

Lets take a look at two four bar phrases

Example- Tupac- Hit Em Up
Now you tell me who won? I see them, they run
Hehehehe, they don't wanna see us
Whole Junior M.A.F.I.A. click dressin up tryin to be us
How the fvck they gon' be the mob when we always on our job

LoL, he rhymed us with us.

Example- Jay-Z- Brooklyn?s Finest feat. Notorious BIG
Me and Gutter had two spots
The two for five dollar hits, the blue tops
Gotta go, Coolio mean it's gettin "Too Hot"
If Faith (Evans, his wife) had twins, she'd probably have two-Pac's Get it?, Tu-pac's

note the reference to Coolio?s song Too Hot.

or two verses

Example- Notorious BIG- Everyday Struggle
I had the master plan
I'm in the caravan on my way to Maryland
with my man Two-Tecs to take over this projects
They call him Two-Tecs, he tote two tecs
And when he start to bust he like to ask, "Who's next?"
I got my honey on the Amtrak
with the crack in the crack of her @$$
Two pounds of hash in the stash
I wait for hon to make some quick cash
I told her she could be Lieutenant, (trick) got gassed
At last, I'm literally loungin black
Sittin back, countin double digit thousand stacks
Had to re-up; see what's up with my peeps
Toyota Deal-a-Thon had it cheap on the Jeeps
See who got smoked, what rumors was spread
Last I heard I was dead with six to the head
Then I got the phone call, it couldn't hit me harder
We got infiltrated, like Nino at the Carter
Heard Tec got murdered in a town I never heard of
by some (trick) named Alberta over nickel-plated burners
And my (trick) swear to God she won't snitch
I told her when she hit the bricks I'll make the hooker rich
Conspiracy, she'll be home in three
Until then I looks out for the whole family
A true G, that's me, blowing like a bubble;
in the everyday struggle

verse

Example- Tupac-

When I was young me and my mama had beef
Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets
Though back at the time, I never thought I'd see her face
Ain't a woman alive that could take my mama's place
Suspended from school; and scared to go home, I was a fool
with the big boys, breakin all the rules
I shed tears with my baby sister
Over the years we was poorer than the other little kids
And even though we had different daddy's, the same drama
When things went wrong we'd blame mama
I reminice on the stress I caused, it was hell
Huggin on my mama from a jail cell
And who'd think in elementary?
Heeey! I see the penitentiary, one day
And runnin from the police, that's right
Mama catch me, put a whoopin to my backside
And even as a crack fiend, mama
You always was a black queen, mama
I finally understand
for a woman it ain't easy tryin to raise a man
You always was committed
A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it
There's no way I can pay you back
But the plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated

If you closely examine Notorious BIG?s lyrical patterns, you?ll notice that he utilizes the same internal rhyme scheme that eminem uses today in songs like ?8-mile? and ?Without Me.? It?s unfortunate that Biggie couldn?t incorporate the use of these rhyme patterns in his radio songs due to objections by P. Diddy.

Don?t get me wrong Tupac was by all means a more significant rap icon than Notorious BIG, but I believe that many people are blinded by Tupac?s glitz and flair and overlook Biggie?s lyrical prowlness.

not to refute all the work you just put into that post, but the examples you picked for pac are kind of unjust. in the hit em quote, you took a part at the end of the track where he's actually talking more than rapping. actually, that part was meant more as a trash talk then a actual rapping verse. and in the second example, biggie talks about drugs and guns, surprise surprise. im not saying pac doesnt talk about it also, but the song you compared it to, he's talking about his life while he was growing up. the song has a slower tempo to it, and is meant as a more serious song, a tribute if you will, not necessarily a rowdy rap track. just my 2 cents though. :D

edit: fixed spelling. or at least tried to.

Tupac was a HORRIBLE rapper IMO - just no natural flow whatsoever. He was a very charismatic guy, though, and I would not have been surprised to see him make it as an actor. I felt Biggie was vastly more talented musically, though he was nothing extraordinary either.
