Poll: Tea Party Peeps Wiser Than Congress

A recent poll found most people have higher regard for TeaP crowds than Congress. Almost the same number (55% - 46% strongly) favor repeal of "health" bill. It's easy to see why O&Co want to defame protesters but it doesn't seem to be working despite all the racist/terrorist defamation attempts.

"The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress. Only 30% believe that those in Congress have a better understanding of the key issues facing the nation.

When it comes to those issues, 47% think that their own political views are closer to those of the average Tea Party member than to the views of the average member of Congress. On this point, 26% feel closer to Congress.

Finally, 46% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is more ethical than the average member of Congress. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say that the average member of Congress is more ethical...

As you would expect, there is a wide divide between the Political Class and Mainstream Americans on these questions. Seventy-five percent (75%) of those in the Political Class say that members of Congress are better informed on the issues. Among Mainstream Americans, 68% have the opposite view, and only 16% believe Congress is better informed.

By a 62% to 12% margin, Mainstream Americans say the Tea Party is closer to their views. By a 90% to one percent (1%) margin, the Political Class feels closer to Congress.

“The gap between Americans who want to govern themselves and politicians who want to rule over them may be as big today as the gap between the colonies and England during the 18th century,"

That's a fun statement on how badly Congress is fucking up.

OP, you'll probably get flamed for using Rasmussen.

I don't know why people think people in government are dumb. Most people in government are incredibly intelligent. That's how they get away with so much.

It's not they they don't know the issues, its just that tackling some of those issues probably would require too much work for them for the payback

We get it Danbue, you are a Tea Partier that hates Obama because he is a Socialist, African born, secret Muslim.

I knew Americans were stupid, but 52% is a rather large number of them.

Where do they find these people? There is no one within my circle of family, friends, and acquaintances who agrees with this poll.

I've also seen teabaggers that thought Obama introduced the term "Czar" into government, did not realize that SS, medicare, and the VA were federally run "socialist" health care programs, did not know if their taxes had been reduced or raised, believed the "death panel" BS, etc.. Why would I think they are somehow informed?

Wiser? Support for that statement not found in OP. Maybe wiser than Republicans in Congress. :)

I'm not going to bother following the link but from the information I've seen 40%+ of Americans are clueless as to who/what the Tea Party is ...

At this point in time, the Nazi Party probably wouldn't rank much lower in approval than Congress. This doesn't mean much of anything...

I think calling Obama "socialist" might be generous. Tom Sowell said under socialism the gov owns means of production - under fascism private people still own production but the gov tells them what to do. Sowell thought Obama and posse were more facist than socialist and I think he's right.

I don't think Obama is a Muslim and I know he's not a Christian. I think he's his own god/messiah - he even campaigned as one.

Ah, so you are still delusional, but a different type of delusional than the average person that identifies themselves as a Tea Party member.

Seems that way to me. Quite disturbing. So, Danube, when exactly did you come out of the closet? How often did you say your father beat you? When was the last sexual fantasy you had about your mother?

Wasn't there a poll where 60%+ of the American public thought that Iraqis were aboard the 9/11 planes?

1/3 of Americans think 9/11 was either planned by the government or the government knew about it and did nothing to stop it.
1/2 of Americans think evolution is a lie

People are stupid as hell. Isn't Glenn Beck the #1 show on Fox News? That should tell you something about how stupid the average person is. If those people also think the tea baggers are right, don't worry about it.

Rasmussen is about 10%+ skewed to the right so that makes sense. 40%+ believing that is still pretty incredible though.

I couldn't see this until now because I was at school. Dear lord this is funny!

I can understand protesting the bill since it's kinda wonky, but a lot of these people don't even have a real complaint.
"These rights are from god."
"Some people don't believe in god. "
"That's right. Without god we have no rights." /walks away

If I'm protesting shit and people ask to interview me, I'll learn from this and not say anything :)
