My family on the other hand is strongly against this - they think station wagons aren't cool, and they really want me to get into an Acura TSX instead.

I don't think so, but do you guys think station wagons are "old people cars?"

You are an adult. Get the car you want.

volvo wagons were never uncool. they were always in a separate catagory, perhaps boring, but always known for being safe and practical.

Yes IF you got them for free and they are way way old. There is something cool about cruising down the high way, windows rolled down arm resting on the window totally relaxed in your old American Road Yacht. But a new Station wagon? F*** that.

Any other wagon without having a family? lame

Wtf does having a family have to do with anything? I've made plenty use of my Grand Cherokee's wagon interior, and I don't even have a girlfriend or a dog.

Are you supposed to put the wife and kids in the cargo area?

Don't think there was an e39 M5 wagon, but I could be wrong.

Wasn't produced by BMW, its all after market DINAN stuff.

All the effort involved makes that uncool

Indeed. You'd forever be explaining it to people. Either that or you'd put an M5 badge on there and any car nut would laugh at you, even if it was quick.

I've fit so many things in there that I couldn't have with a regular sedan.

I have the exact same one and couldn't agree more. I love the styling of it and with the AWD the handling is as good as my Contour SVT was. All in all a great road car. FWIW, I'm just a bit older than you.........like about 35 years older! :)

Doubt it, before you comment again, do a little google research. "E39 M5 Touring" should do the trick.

Yea smartass, they go in the cargo area. Sorry, but IMO, all other wagons are lame.

I love my subaru wagon and will be buying another one when I get rid of this current one.

Station wagons are the best answer for America's seemlessly endless obsession with the SUV.

Only an american would think that it's less manly, and what the hell do they matter?

Besides, SUVs are ugly, station wagons are not. Neither are cool, though.

Stop owning yourself:

Was a Touring (station wagon) version of the E39 M5 ever produced?

Although an E39 M5 Touring was considered and at least one prototype was constructed (in Titanium Silver with a Black Exclusive leather interior), BMW M decided not to produce an E39 M5 Touring due to financial considerations.

Link.
