Read the following:

In his First Annual Message delivered to Congress on December 8, 1829, President Andrew Jackson stated his case supporting the voluntary emigration of Native Americans from their homelands in the southeast to a new location West of the Mississippi.

My question to you is (regarding the Underlined Date),

Should it be:

1) December 8, 1829, (Microsoft Word)

or

2) December 8th, 1829, (Joshua)

8th... only morons write crap like "December 8". Say it out loud. Think about how much people would make fun of you if you said "December eight".

I would say #1 is more formal/strict while #2 is the socially acceptable perhaps more "casual" but OK one...

dunno

you might say

eighth of December, 1829

mmm i like.

:)

it's that ordinal vs cardinal thing.

when saying 7th, 8th etc it is relative to the month. the 8th of december. but when you say december 8, 1829 it is absolute not relative.

it's like saying first, second, third.

you say december 8th, but you usually don't write it, I believe you can change the autoformatting in MS word so it does read "December 8th," but when it's written, it's supposed to be December 8

Well when you hit F7, the only error it picks up is the capitalization of the word "West."
