Poll: Should Twin Towers come back?

Not too sure what I think about the Twin Towers to be rebuilt. I think it is not appropriate and not too many people would want to work in them. Maybe a single huge building might be a better idea. They should construct the worlds biggest building there and give back America its title as having the world's biggest building. New York City deserves no less. Also, put up some SAM's or some kind of anti-aircraft missles up. They will need all the security they can to protect it from the terrorists.

But of course, the best way to protect this building is to kill all the terrorists you can find overseas. Kill them all. All of them.

Anyways, I support the Freedom Tower and wish the funding is granted to them.

The Twin Towers were awesome buildings. In fact, I've been in them about 5 or so times. Went all the way to the top and looked down, it was a dizzying experience. 🙂

Too bad the terrorists had to destroy them. 🙁 And all the people who worked and visited as well.

I saw that special on the making of the Twin Towers on the History Channel a few weeks back, it almost brought tears to my eyes. So many men and so many hours were put into making these buildings that symbolized America and a few terrorists in dirty night shirts destroyed them in a matter of minutes. I still cannot believe the buildings that I've seen so much in my life whenever I visited New York City are gone. The buildings I've stepped in, taken friends into to take a tour and show them all the cool stuff are gone.

If they are going to rebuild the Twin Towers, make them as strong as possible. Make them have the ability to withstand the biggest airliner and a strong bomb, otherwise, no point in rebuilding them.

Whatever is built there, I wish them good luck. Something needs to fill that hole, and also a good memorial is needed. Something should be worked out. Whatever happens, good luck to New York City.

I don't think many people will feel comfortable workin at the freedom tower or a rebuilt world trade center, even if it is safer. I say they should leave ground zero as a memorial and build the freedom tower elsewhere.

i think they should remake the original towers with improvements, but keep the same look/size to show the enormity of the disaster and our strength and determination to rebuild. a memorial in the plaza, with part of the original building would be nice

Agh. I still shudder when I see the Twin Towers on reruns or old movies, when I saw the thread title the hairs on my arms stood up. I am not ready to think about that yet.

more P&N, but if they ever rebuild them they should post on them...

LOOK AMERICA YOU HAVE TO REACT!

YOU HAVE A FVCKING CELL PHONE....CALL WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING!

IF YOU ARE IN A SITUATION...THEN MAKE YOUR STAND!

America will fall IMHO eventually....more and more are looking for the government to protect them, not themselves.

but not the discussion for here.

They need to do something, they had 5 gay designs to pick from and one of the gayest ones won.

 Not a surprise to me that the whole process is having problems, what a mess. New York deserves better. I think they should do the old ones, but with some kind of change in the design to show how new comes from the old.

Agreed. We cannot let a few terrorists in dirty night shirts to deter us from living life as we want to. I still support the Freedom Tower, however if they somewhat modify the design of the original World Trade Center and make it more sturdier, more stable and able to withstand any type of attack and make it look even better than the old towers, then I definately would support it. Remember, we must rebuild New York City, it is the face of America. Whatever we do, we must do it for New York City.

Not sure what Governor Pataki's stance is on this matter, but I'll look into it.

I think some of you bring up a good point that nobody would want to work in them.. it made me doubt the idea for a bit.

But if I could predict what would happen after the towers were to be rebuilt, I would say that nobody would have a problem living and working in and around them at all. The memories stirred up by people, especially in the New York area, would be enough to give them to determination to make things normal again. People would see those towers and not have the urge to back down to fear, but to go ahead and work and visit them if they can.

I never really heard this idea seriously before. But the more I read about it the more I hope Trump is successful.

Coming from someone who's never been to New York or above the 9th floor of any building (and that was only for a couple minutes--other than that, never above the 4th or 5th), I think I'd rather see and visit a true 110-story (or more) building (or two) than a 70-story building with lots of latticework to make it look like it has 110 stories. As far as aesthetics are concerned, I think the Twin Towers would look better on the skyline than the proposed Libeskind complex. I haven't seen any other proposal yet that seems better than rebuilding towers in the form of the originals and adding some memorials.

I suppose you could try to do a middle finger WTC complex, maybe making the TV mast the finger.

Two Towers please, then future generations can properly enjoy the Simpsons in New York episode (best one of that season).

neither. United Architects had the best design by far. With a little more development, they should be doing it.

edit:

But just about anything would be better than the "USA is great" theme park they're building now. New york deserves something that's both exciting and reverent. Freedom tower is neither.

wow, that's quite the presentation.

i think that freedom tower looks weird. rebuild the twin towers!

I think all of Libeskind's stuff looks pretty weird and deconstructionist in a way. It would be a bit out of place in the NYC skyline, methinks.

In a cramp manhatten?
hmm, perhaps in a different location.
but its cool if its rebuilded. Don't think they have the funds now after all the spending in IRAQ
