Poll: Should College be FREE?

Uh...and who will pay the teachers to teach said classes? Who will pay for the equipment, the books, the property and the building? Who will pay the hydro bill?

The Government?

Laugh.

What a biased question. College should definitley NOT be free. Nobody takes anything free seriously. What we really need to do is build the functionality of college into highschool, but our family system simply can't support that.

It is STUPID that the average american has to spend the first third of their life in school instead of being productive. Making college free would be the same thing as effectivley making it manditory. Look at all of the people working at Best Buy with degrees. You practically have to get a master's degree now if you want to "differentiate yourself"

:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

no, it should not be free. competition (among students) and capitalism (within private universities) are healthy and help this country progress, grow, and remain competitive.

We do, through tax. Do you want more tax, even when you're no longer going to school?

High School teachers have low salaries. You can't pay someone with a PhD that little.

If someone wants free college tuition, they can get it by working hard enough to get scholarships. If they aren't willing to work hard enough to do that, I wouldn't want them in my classes wasting everyone's time.

We dont need more tax u can get cut the money we spend on welfare and prisons then.

Also if more people go to college they make more then pay more taxes haha

Thanks to financial aid, every single person in the US can go to college. Maybe they can't afford Harvard if they don't get a scholarship, but they can afford a state school. Anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves.

Nice way to word the poll. Poor people are poor for lots of reasons. If college was free most poor people would still be poor. If you can't find a way to pay for college then you don't have what it takes to be successful anyways so you sure as hell don't deserve a free ride.

So we won't have any prisons? 😕
A college education doesn't guarantee you a well paying job, FYI.

that's assuming they get jobs. They should just start reforming schooling at the lower levels and eliminate the need for college

Isnt it free?

I get tuition covered by grant 100% and I only have to pay 400$ a semester in books, and living expenses, which can all be paid by loans (5k or so a semester in federal loans) or out of pocket.

so imo it is free, stop being lazy and fill out FAFSA, and other required paperwork, get a job and get started on getting a degree.

edit>

Not to mention scholarships etc...
