This poll is basically to gather some info about those of us using the "top" GPUs and who upgrade fairly often. My theory is that most people who have a top of the line card and upgrade at least every other year are gaming at 1920x1080 or better. Let's see.

Consider "Top GPU" as:
at least one 5870, 5970
Crossfired 6870 6850 5850

at least one 480, 580
SLI 460 465 470 475

May be an argument for SLI or Crossfire older generations such as
SLI 295 285
Crossfire 4870 4890

but I am really looking for those people that upgrade often.

I'm typically on a 1.5 - 2yr GPU upgrade cycle. My GTX 260 is handling everything quite well but it is now the weak link in my system (recently upgraded to i5 in sig)

I have a 5850 connected to 3 1080p monitors. I do not game regularly at 5760x1080, but games that I can, such as FEAR 2, Portal (and other valve games) I'll use eyefinity. But 90% of the time I'm just at 1080p and a 5850 is enough for that.

I am looking at the 6970 as a possible upgrade.

Well I upgrade/sidegrade every year and I have a 1920x1080 display.

Had a 4870 last year, got a 5770 for the reduced noise and heat.
Getting a 6850 this week or the next.

I have dual 460s and have 1920x1080. Since I just put together a computer for myself for the first time 1 month ago, I can't give you numbers on how often I upgrade, but I expect to upgrade my cards in about 3 years. I might buy more monitors within a year to try Surround.

Have had my 4870 with this 22" 1680x1050 for just over 2 years now. Still runs fine on all the games I play. Looking to upgrade in ~ a year to a 30" and a 7XXX.

1920 x 1200 with a highly clocked 6870. I consider that not a top gpu, but not low end either.

you need to change the poll description so that it is clear while taking the poll what a "high end" gpu is.

I wasn't quite sure where to put my vote. I'm at 1920x1200 and just upgraded to a GTX460 1GB. I'd consider that mid-upper tier.

The last top end bleeding edge card I bought was a Voodoo 2. I preordered and paid around $300 for it.

My previous GPU was an 8800GTX @ 1920x1200. It died after 3 years, so I got a hold-over 5750. I'm looking to upgrade to a 6950 or 560-570, $300 ~ 350 range. Don't plan to upgrade after that for another 2-3 years at least.

Voted 1920x1200 without top GPU.

My main display is 1920x1200 and I'm still using my 4870 512MB without too much issue. I just got Civ V though and I imagine I'll be upgrading shortly as a result.

I feel disgraced. My resolution (1440x900) isn't even a separate option, it's just lumped into the "also rans".

<sniff, wipe tear>

I guess it's time for a new monitor.

A fair amount of coin by today's prices, inflation adjusted I mean.

top is relative :) I have a 22inch monitor and 8800GTS; I plan on upgrading to windows 7 and 6870 sometime in the next 3 or 4 months but is the 6870 a top gpu ? It is current :) but clearly not 'top' so I think top needs to be better defined.

1920x1200 with a 5770. Not really top-tier, but even Crysis is still playable as long as I don't go nuts with the AA.
