I use a serial port at home for my remote control for winamp.

At work, i use it all the time to connect to my motorola CSU/DSU's and program them.

You do realize that USB and PS2 ports are also serial, right?

As far as RS232 - I don't have anything hooked up to it currently, but I've had an Infared reciever, A wacom tablet, mice, null modem cable, modem, um... probably some other stuff, hooked up to it in the past.
