lets see, snopes has a newspaper cited, and another source. anyone wanna go to the local maryland library and find those articles?

also, the wood hasnt caved anything in, it is leaning over the edge of the window, thus you are suspecting that it is bent in.

the driver could look real if she was sleeping with her ass against where a center console would be if there is one there.

On the other hand, I do have some authentic photos of Big Foot, the Lochness Monster, Alien and a deed to a bridge that I'd like to sell. Please PM me if you're intersted.

According to the "article", the photos shows that the woman was leaning to the left of the car, and she's a big ass woman (not almost in the driver seat as this photo suggested). Judging from the angle of the stack and the projected car top, either that was some spongy ass plywood or IT'S FAKE.

Yes... and I deducted from those photos to the one that posted on this thread. Well, there's one other fact that would make this picture real, if you can prove it. Only if the woman is dead, then I would believe that the picture is real. There is no freaking way in hell that she just left a restaurant, the car hasn't even warmed up yet and she fell asleep even with all that commotion.

And you're an expert in perception.

First of all, if you look at the passenger, she is way too small for that car.
Secondly, go to Home Depot, get that many plywood boards and stack it on top of your car, and see what would happen. The cast shadow consistency of the damn boards are very "consistent", even the car exterior is not.
Just to mention a few obvious fcuking points for you sherlocks. Not to mention the others that have been pointed out. This goes to show how "smart" people really are.

P.S: Judging from the positions of the plywood boards and the rear windows are up, should they have shatter by now since the freaking weight has seem to crush a corner of the top of the car?

How do you explain the dozens of other photos of the same thing from various angles? What about the waiver that Home Depot possesses from the owner of that vehicle that the owner had to sign before they would load all that lumber & concrete into the car?

Why didn't the windows break? Because the frame around them hasn't distorted. The wood is just hanging off making the illusion that the roof caved in.

The passenger isn't too small for the car, she's just lying down with her head up against the door.

The reports from witnesses say that she was "otherwise out"...as in maybe a little drugged up or something.

One question though... why is the first relatively good, the second much worse, and the last few even worse and in B&W? Multiple sources?

I am sitting here, reading this thread, and cant bieleve that people still think this is a fake photo. first of all who would go through the trouble of faking something as stupid as this, this can only occur through genuine stupidity. you cant fake this stuff. also saw this post:

1. The tire is still there. If you look closely you can see the outline of it.
2. The bags of concrete are at least 800lbs alone and you have at least 50 sheets of plywood (those alone could be pushing 500lbs), wooden posts (another 500), and various other types of building material (probably around 300lbs there). so thats roughly 2100lbs. how can you even say that even if it was 3k pounds wont cause those kind of problems? The car itself probably only weighs between 3000-3500 lbs!! Thats like throwing another jetta on top of that and except it to hold it, give me a break. and its all focused on the rear of the car. im suprised the roof didnt crush in but the tires and shocks blowing out is definetely to be expected.
3. The driver is apparently an idiot, who knows where he went off to. I'd suspect both people in the car were under the form of some type of drug to even consider this and sign a waiver. i cant imagine what they were wanting to build afterwards either.
4. That "twine" is extremely strong and could hold the weight. there a a lot of seperate pieces distributing the load. its definetely not placed on the roof very securely though. I am guessing it was originall placed centered on the roof and slide back, the twine catching it from falling completely off, at which point the driver decided to make a run for it and left his stoned passenger behind. also there is no way that car could go ANYWHERE with the load on the read like that. its a fwd car and there would be zero traction on the front tires to even begin to move it. when the load was originally put on the roof it was centered and the car was able to move, pretty slowly id imagine tho.

its hard to admit it i guess, but there are people this stupid out there.

I'm not sure if it's a photo chop or not, but I do think it was a "setup" picture. How the heck are you going to stack all that plywood up there without it sliding back? Also, I doubt there would be enough weight on the front tires for the car to drive, it would just spin.

lol! Dude, the whole stack shifted/slid backwards, transferring weight to the rear and raising the front. I don't think they loaded the wood as you see it nearly falling off the rear. Obviously they got about just fine, at least until they get to the IHOP parking lot, however long that was after leaving Home Depot.

I presume the bags of concrete were loaded into the back first, then the wood centered on the roof of the vehicle to distribute the weight as evenly as they could. BTW, federal law requires the roof structure of passenger vehicles to withstand a load equal to 1.5x the vehicle's own weight, or 5,000lbs, whichever is less, with no more than 125 mm of crush (FMVSS #216). If the weight of all that stuff is around 3000lbs as reported, the roof will hold it.

In every photo, the women appears to be leaning toward the right of the vehicle (passenger side).

The vehicle had Florida plates, the picture was taken in MD. If the women made the trip from Florida, she may indeed have been too tired to care. It does not say that the woman was sleeping before the load shifted, didn't bother to open her eyes while the load shifted, and continued to sleep after the load shifted. For all we know they just got done eating at the IHOP, the load shifted while they started to leave, the male driver set off to find a phone or something (or whatever they reported he was doing), and she stayed in the car to sleep.

What else is she going to do? Get out and try to push the stack of wood back? Do jumping jacks? Pose for people coming to take pictures? What would you have her do?

No one said she just left the restaraunt. Just because they are in the parking lot of the place doesn't mean they ate there.

My question is how someone can still be in there. I think it's real, but it was set-up. How else could they have gotten the pictures? Did they just happen to bring a camera along while hauling all that wood? Doubtful. Next, at the first sign of crumpling, anyone would have stopped piling the wood on there and taken some off.

I know where that is...it's right by the IHOP on Rt. 301 either between or in Pinefield or Waldorf, MD.

1) Why would anybody set this up? Destroy a car for some stupid stunt like this?
2) The man was said to not be in a right state of mind.
3) The load obviously shifted after the driver had left the hardware store. It was originally tied down on the roof, and it slid backwards onto the trunk and crushed the back.
