I eat a lot of hot foods. I am no stranger to 1 million + scoville sauces.
When I cut serranos (which are a meager 20,000 or so scovilles), and accidently rub my eyes or something later, it burns like fvcking hell. When I cut habeneros and accidently rub my eyes later on, it is even worse.

The intensity of the pain from the pepper spray on the eyes is not something I would want to subject myself to.

That said, I can take a hit or two, so most likely they would hit me a lot with the stick to subdue me. That would most likely be less "sharp" vs the pepper spray, but I suspect the pain would linger a lot longer.

I'd take the sharp pain for shorter duration vs the slightly less sharp pain for a week or so recovery time.

Look - I'm not going to go any further than this post, because this is off topic, not P&N.

Yes - the right to peacefully protest is absolutely an important part of our government. That said...that right does not give you the right to break the law while doing so. If you are breaking the law - say, standing in the middle of a public street - you do NOT have the right to be there, and cops DO have the right to remove you. Its that simple. If you want to make a martyr of yourself and get arrested and/or pepper sprayed for your cause, that's your choice to make...but understand that you are not being treated unjustly. Break the law, pay the consequences. That's all.

that is some weak sauce pepper spray for them to just sit there

if they were hit with the tear gas they used on us in boot camp, there is NO way the hippies would just sit there while john pike casually hosed them down

if you are going to go with chemical weapons , use something with some punch

I was at the Wing Bowl in 2005/2006 when there was a riot there (typical Philly mob.) I was literally at the very front of the crowd, and begged a riot officer to let me through and exit (I was literally pushed up against his shield by a raging crowd. He said no, and soon after a riot began, and I was the first person hit by one of his buddies night sticks. I went down hard. If I had to choose though, I would choose the stick over perpper spray, but only if I was hit once. That shit hurts.

That was tear gas in boot, this is pepper spray, they are two totally different animals. I agree though, the tear gas would have them crawling off in no time.
