Poll: Overreaction to incident?.......High School Baseball Team Hires Stripper

definitely overreacted. they didnt break any laws or anything so let them have a good time.

when i was back in high school a rival football team did the same thing and there were no punishments handed out.

errr I completely agree with the administrators...why do u think there's so many incidents of male athletes degrading women? It starts with incidents like what happned with the baseball team...and they lose all respect for women. I would like to see those players also write a 10 page essay each on the struggles of women in society, do general community service, and spend time at a shelter for battered women. Then maybe they'll respect women and find other ways to celebrate that doesn't involve the degredation of women! :|

Since when is watching a perfectly legal stripshow with a willing adult degrading women? It's only degrading if the "victim" sees it that way, which I assure you from first hand experience that it is not so. My fiancee's cousin happens to be a stripper, and could care less if people know, or what people think. She finds it fun to do, and makes her just hands over fists cash. Granted though, there are some women in the business who definitely are being taken advantage of, but they ARE in the minority no matter what self-instilled delusions you may be having.

Who the hell are you to sit on your high horse and judge? Yeesh.

And no, I have never *once* been at a stripshow of any sorts (unless of course you count a 1 on 1 nekkednis session with a SO), so that argument won't work for you either.

Sigh. These kids were being normal kids, I see nothing wrong with what they did other than getting caught. There parents should be the ones to regulate the punishment, and determine if they stepped out of bounds or not. The schools just doing the usual cop-out of "cover your ass" crap. Sigh. They should be punished, but firing a coach over something he had no knowledge about, wtf?!

Grr.

What's wrong with that? They were just *watching* so no harm, no foul. So why fire the coach and suspend the students? They over-reacted. Plain and simpel. But they have to cover their asses so they don't get sued. So I guess they were justified in doing what they did. 🙂

I don't think the only ones raching beyond their authority in this matter were the kids and the strippers.

If I had a HS freshman under my supervision and they had a stripper in their hotel room, I would expect to lose my job too.

Hahaha!!! Rock on boys!!! Too bad they got caught! There are plenty worse things a young man can be out doing rather than looking at nude women. Every young fella at one time or another peeks at an issue of Playboy. These folks just happen to be a step ahead of that... I commend them for their excellent idea! Good to see a team come together like that and really pool their resources as one for a common goal. Bet they would have played better after that bonding experience together had they not been caught... Oh well boys, off to college next year where you not only get to see them naked, you get to touch them too!!! 😀 😀 😀

i personally don't think that they overreacted.
The coach should know better than to allow this. The parents of the kids put their kid's welfare in the hands of the coach and he abused their trust.

Can someone fill me in on Ohio law. I'm sure that some of the kids on the team were under 18. I'm guessing it would be illegal for them to hire strippers. Seems to me that the company that provided the strippers could be fined too for providing their services to minors.

😀

The Coach screwed up BIGTIME.

There IS a Code of Ethics that teachers are held to in the profession.

Every job has a set of rules you have to follow... or you GET FIRED.

Simple, whether or not the peanut gallery thinks it is 'right' or 'wrong', the coach KNEW he was taking a serious risk with his job.

From my reading of the article, it didn't seem the coach was involved, but I'm glad he took full responsibility for not exercising proper supervision.

Ah, you are right, Stormrider... I missed that point.

Well, I hope that the team learns something from this.

It was a bad move...

Well if the school was paying for the trip then they reacted correctly. If the students had to gather the money in the first place to even go on the trip then I think the administration overreacted.

Jim

bad move by players...i don't think administration overreacted cuz it was a SCHOOL sponsered trip (of course, if they all went out as a team for vacation, then they can do wat they plz)

I thought you had to be at least 18 to get into a strip club. You also need to be 18 to rent porn. So how is the hiring a hook.. err, striper by underage kids legal?? And how did it become a school sponsored activity?

It amazes me how many morons frequent this forum. At least the coach had some sense... he quit and "accepted full responsibility for not exercising proper supervision." :|

this is wrong and the school did what was right.
these are KIDS not adults who are old enough to see such shows. Also this is a school sponsored trip there should be a level of conduct of which the players have to follow.

i hope they learned their lesson.

*kat. <-- surprisingly with the administration on this one.

BruinEd03<---Part of the problem, not part of the solution.

If this incident manages to form a negative opinion of woman with these fellas, then they are in a severly screwed up enviroment that extends way beyond one set with some strippers.

A side note----There are "bad" girls in the world, people have to know that, so they will know whats so special about the good girls.
