I usually start the work week with $40-$50 in my wallet, but by the weekend I'm down to about $3... It goes way to quick!

I usually don't carry any cash. Most places I go to either accept credit/debit cards or there is an ATM machine pretty close by. Can't think of a situation where I needed cash and didn't have a means to get some. I've done this for most of my adult life (10 years) b/c I have a tendancy to spend cash when I have it.

Thats why I don't carry any anymore. I save a lot of money by just making it a PITA to get to my money.

on any given day at work:
-personal
50-70 us dollares 😛
1 book of checks
1 atm/debit card
1 platinum world perks card

-work expense
300-500 us funds
1 book of signed checks
1 platinum visa
1 platinum am/ex

I've heard of people carrying a lot of cash ($60-$100) around at all times because they feel it's their way of buying out of a robbery/mug attempt without being harmed. The thought is - if the assailant does not walk away with enough cash, they'll feel the need to inflict further harm.

What do you people think of that ?

When some one asks for your wallet, you take your wallet out and toss it away from you. Then you run like a crazy. Thieves usually just want your money and they'll go for the wallet instead of trying to slash you for disobeying their orders or something. If they don't go for the wallet...they probably wanted to kill you anyway so at least you have a head start!

With no cash in my wallet, I just cancel my CC and all I end up losing is time.

This is not something you should admit on a public forum.

Me, $40, not too much more than that.

any particular reason he should not be admitting that on a public forum?

I usually always have about $100 on me. It's not to feel "safe" though or anything like that. I just prefer to pay for small daily purchases in cash.

somewhat related anecdote:

i told a friend of mine the other day that i had "empirical evidence" of something. he about died laughing, so i asked him what was so funny. he just shook his head and said "you're the only person i've ever known that would actually USE the words empirical evidence in a serious sentence." so i laughed back at him and told him that maybe he should find more friends with college degrees. 😀

he called me an a$$hole.

LOL. That's great!

Do these people go around saying "baaaa-baaaaaaa!" alot? You could invest that $60-$100 into a decent knife and have something useful for both daily purposes and muggings.

how about an option for "0-4 ones?" I almost never have cash. Pretty much the only thing I buy anymore is gas; I can't afford anything else
