I have lived in So. Cal ever since I came to the US. Went to UCLA. Never lived anywhere else in the US. But I voted for Nor Cal coz quite frankly I'm kinda sick of LA...

I am really sick of the traffic I have to deal with. The 10 freeway is the bane of my existence!!

I visited SF and I really like it. The BART system is great. You can get anywhere in the city within 30 min. I'd love to live in SF if I have the chance.

The bart is pretty good except for commuting during rush hour. Peeyew. The smell of yuppies crammed into a confined space isn't fun.

Maybe its because I stayed mostly in the Berkeley area but man did I hate Northern California.

a) the city of Berkeley is the nastiest and most inconvenient place I know of. You think Northern California doesn't have traffic? Ha.
b) you have to PAY to go to San Francisco unless you're willing to go around the entire bay from the bottom, wtf. Either BART fee or bridge fee.
c) BART is one of the most useful public transportation systems but nevertheless is still public transportation. It costs money, it doesn't take me to my specific location, and I don't have control over speed/time. Sorry, I like to drive... we have parking in Orange County because we know how to design our cities better. We don't like to keep unsafe, outdated, overpriced buildings with no parking.

Superficial? Shallow? Less friendly? Damn right, thats what happens when you have some of the best looking women that have walked the Earth. :)

What a brainless Buffoon. That would be like some wanker judging all of So Cal based on a visit to South Central.

The main thing Nor Cal has over So Cal is Nor Cal isn't as crowded as So Cal. Other than that both places are excellent, especially the weather. A Diverse Population, Coastal Towns similar to the French and Italian Rivera, teeming night life, the best Music Scene in the country, Beautiful Parks (Yosemite) Interesting Cities like San Francisco(Great Place to visit not to live)and the Archie, Rube, Dweeb and Normal Person Factor isn't so skewed.

Southern California has most of the industry, however Northern California has most of the resources. That's why California will never split. The only resource that Southern California has is a large supply of rocks, hot, and a short commute to Mexico. Although Northern California has a bit of industry, it's nothing what Southern California is.

...and both have thier own fair share of yuppies, hippies, and a-holes.

Wow you must be even more of a brainless buffoon by making assumptions. I've been to San Francisco, Sacramento, Yosemite, Redwoods, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe, etc etc. Hell, let me make a half-@ssed assumption like you and say I've probably been to more "tourist" attractions in Northern California than you. I acknowledge I mainly stayed in Berkeley area and those were my two most RECENT trips to Northen California. I've been to Northern California plenty of times and I have family there also.

You know why it isn't as crowded? Because LESS PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE THERE. Oh, because it has some of the richest cities in the nation? Not my fault idiots are willing to pay rip off prices for horrible housing and where everything from food to clothing is overpriced. Higher income does NOT mean they are "richer" and more well off.

So let's say I worked in the Financial District and wanted to get home which was in the Richmond District. How would BART get me there? If you say buses, then I'd much rather drive my car like I do down here in LA. The actual subway is a great way to get around the Bay Area, but it just covers about 4 or 5 stops in San Francisco. Our Metro does a lot more than that.

Of the little time I have spent in California most of it was in the San Diego area. As nice as that area is my 1 visit to Northern California and brief glimpses of the Muir Woods and Yosemite would make me choose Northern over Southern California.

I'm an L.A. native. I also went to Berkeley for a couple of years, and I have family and friends in the Bay Area, so I really enjoy Northern Ca, too, but L.S.'s home, and I love it. :)

I like the California state motto -- Snow is something you visit.. Except for drought years, we have championship ski areas (if you're into that), but when you're tired of being cold and wet, you can go home, and it doesn't follow you. Also, the words, snow and shovel are only associated by choice. :)

We actually have seasons, here. Spring is strawberries. Summer is everything, and lots of it. Fall is different everything, and lots of it. In winter, we still have lots of produce, but you may have to drive a few blocks in the rain to get it. :D :D :D

All you California bashers, please stay where you are. The one thing we don't need is more population, especially if you're pissed about it.

ride a bike :) parking for cars is a pain in the ass- parking for bikes is a lot easier and cheaper. Just gotta be careful which way you park and put your kickstand up :p

anyways, you think you don't have to deal with traffic up north? all the freeways up north (the 101, the 280, the 880, the 680, the 80) are just as bad as the ones down here. hehe, notice i say "the" in front of freeways? True SoCal here ;) That's one thing I noticed about SoCal vs NorCal: NorCal folk don't say "the" in front of freeways. All my friends looked at me weird when I said "the 101" and "the 1". Stoopid NorCal folk. Anyways, I think I like it better up North than down here. I lived in Santa Cruz for the past two years, and since graduating, moved back home to LA. Weather up there is much nicer (well, not in the valleys, just like down here) but the music scene is a definate plus (wild949, kmel 106, live 105.3, and something 104.7) oh well, going up to visit in SF this weekend, whoo!

Where do these southern california people get off saying that traffic down there isn't bad? It is utterly horrible...and that's true for both LA and San Francisco so just deal with it.
And LA does is not more populated simply because people would rather live there....it's mainly because of all the Mexican immigrants.
And lastly, I never even knew that So cal's thought they had the best women. I never heard that before so I'm not going to believe it. I've been to so cal many a time (I go to UCSD) and yes there are a lot of beautiful women but in my 19 years of life I have been pretty amazed with the amount of gorgeous ladies I have seen up here in nor cal.
