This reminds me how sometimes popular ignorance of a word (pronunciation or usage) eventually supersedes proper usage, enough for formal entrance into the lexicon.
Yeah "negro" is Spanish for black. Perhaps a teacher should be embarrassed for not knowing this? I guess soon the term black will become offensive, as the color is closer to brown or cafe.
