I just find it hilarious, coming from a state government that prides itself on being so ultra-liberal. ;)

And yes, some people of color still identify with the term negro. In my mind, it's no more offensive than the silly politically correct term "African-American".

I presume that when she went to college, she didn't receive support from the United Negro College Fund. Because, a mind is a terrible thing to waste - and her's is apparently being wasted on this non-issue.

I just learned recently that "black" in Spanish is that word minus the last letter.

Can a person with pure Scandinavian "identify" as black?

well, if we are to believe the internet SJWs then Scandinavia has always been inhabited by people of color...

because their feels tell them that it's true.

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what." - Stephen Fry.

Any lawyer will disagree with you there. Race has a huge role in selecting a jury. So does financial background, what you do for a living as well as many other demographics. You've obviously never made it past the waiting room to jury selection. It's pretty interesting.

Was called down once for jury duty, wasted the whole day for nothing. Now when they send a a notice, i discard it.

What does the year have to do with this? Oh, because people are way more offended by silly things compared to before. Those are the same kind of people get are offended at the word Christmas.

People try to find stuff to be offended about in everything these days.

does she know what Negro means? it is spanish for black. Negro Americano. black american.

Hahaha

And when an actual Spanish speaker comes to this country, you rednecks want to lock down the borders and force them to learn English. Apparently multilinguism is only okay when you're using it to be racist.

One well-known example is the identification by Martin Luther King, Jr. of his own race as 'Negro' in his famous 1963 speech I Have a Dream.

Negro is technically the correct word. Black is slang. Also like someone else said, negro is Spanish for black.

Also I answered the poll wrong. The title and the question are opposites.
"'Negro' as an option on a form." So my answer was yes.
Then the poll is, "is it offensive?" D'oh!

"Negro" is used to refer to black objects, not people, which is why that term fell out of use in the 1960's.

as someone who's married to a nicaraguan and who's best friend is 1/2 mexican and 1/2 spanish, this is 100% false.

Is this the thread where a bunch of "white" and Asian people try to tell "black" people that they should feel offended by a term because time has rendered that term "bad"?
