I'm definitely the former.

I haven't had my computer off for probably a month. (98 though, so you know it's rebooted daily)

Do you believe it's better to leave on or shut it off?

Mine stays on 24/7. The only time I shut it down is when I go home for the weekend. Other than that it runs all the time.

Off these days, the fans drive me crazy. I remember one time the screensaver got changed to the baseball theme. All night I was hearing this noise and cheering going on, slept like sh*t until I realized what it was the next day. Needless to say, no screensaver anymore.
