I use Win2k. When my computer crapped out, for some reason I couldn't reinstall Win2k. So I put Redhat on there. I used that for a while. Then I was able to go back to Win2k.

Prefer Win2k because I can play games on it.

Windows. I do way too much gaming to run linux as my primary OS. However, I do run it on my server, as well as on my desktop ocasionally to tinker and stuff :)

Make Linux just as easy to run/install and I'm there. I don't have time for that Mickey Mouse bullsh!t.

Just as easy as what? On what hardware?

RedHat is pretty damn easy. Last time I used Mandrake it was pretty damn easy. And absolutely, no Disney involved.

When was the last time you installed Linux? What version was it?

Heh, Red Hat 6.x :)

Tell me it is as easy to install as Windows (latest drivers too) and I will jump at the chance again.

I have always found Windows on VIA hardware to be a PITA to install with latest drivers. In fact, the last time I tried it, I ended up reinstalling many many times. RedHat 7.3 was increadibly easy to install, and Debian 3.something was easy once I did what the screeen told me to do instead of what I wanted to do ;)

I've been installing Windows on VIA hardware since I bought an AMD K6-2/350MHz and a board that I can no longer recall. I haven't run into any driver/compatibility issues whatsoever in all this time. My gripe with Linux is that you have to do a ton of legwork to get your hardware all working. What I meant by Mickey Mouse is that I can't be sitting there digging for this and that when there's an OS out there that does it for me already. I don't want to know about mounting and unmounting drives or changing file systems. Why make life harder for myself? To screw Bill ? I couldn't really care less about that. ;) One phrase repeatedly comes to mind with Linux - you get what you pay for. Now make it less of a hassle and I'll care about free.

Different experiences for different people. :)

RedHat installed perfectly on a mom 'n' pop shop p3 and some Dell workstation. It recognized all of the hardware to the point I had a usable system. No muss, no fuss.

RedHat, and other distros probably fall into these categories, deals with most of that for you.

To me, Free always comes first. Windows is pretty much the antithesis of Free. free is good, but still not #1. I don't care about Bill. I want something that works, works well, is easy, and makes sense. I found that. You're solution is different than mine, but no less right (no matter how much I want to say "W1nd0wz sux0rz" or whatever it is I am supposed to say). :)
