When was the last time you installed Linux? What version was it?

Tell me it is as easy to install as Windows (latest drivers too) and I will jump at the chance again.
I've been installing Windows on VIA hardware since I bought an AMD K6-2/350MHz and a board that I can no longer recall. I haven't run into any driver/compatibility issues whatsoever in all this time. My gripe with Linux is that you have to do a ton of legwork to get your hardware all working. What I meant by Mickey Mouse is that I can't be sitting there digging for this and that when there's an OS out there that does it for me already. I don't want to know about mounting and unmounting drives or changing file systems. Why make life harder for myself? To screw Bill ? I couldn't really care less about that.Originally posted by: n0cmonkey

I have always found Windows on VIA hardware to be a PITA to install with latest drivers. In fact, the last time I tried it, I ended up reinstalling many many times. RedHat 7.3 was increadibly easy to install, and Debian 3.something was easy once I did what the screeen told me to do instead of what I wanted to do![]()

Why make life harder for myself? To screw Bill ? I couldn't really care less about that. One phrase repeatedly comes to mind with Linux - you get what you pay for. Now make it less of a hassle and I'll care about free.
