Nixon's fault? He is to blame for all things oil?

Ah-Rooooo!

Rumor has it an employee inside their network clicked on a malicious email link.

That is pretty much zero security when an insider opens the door and invites in the hackers.
I have seen the rumor about an end user clicking, but we have not seen any evidence to make that even remotely credible at this point. It makes for a cute meme, but that's it. The company has not disclosed what happened as far as I know. Mandiant is arguably the best organization to provide attribution and the FBI is very involved. I imagine if it was an email borne-threat we would know that by now. Those are fairly easy to track down.

It will be interesting to see how this develops and if the government steps in and really regulates critical infrastructure better in the future. Coming in to help clean up private companies' messes due to incompetence and trying to protect their margins is getting pretty ridiculous.

The internal conflict for Republicans not wanting to regulate versus the money the government spends to investigate seems like a real mind bender. Then again, they are not capable of critical thinking and probably never put the two things together.

Short answer - yes.

Long answer: Also yes.

You are correct. POTUS takes responsibility for everything bad except if that POTUS is trump then he would blame it on everyone else and we would hear this sad story that the previous POTUS left America's cyber security in the shitter and he will fix it with bigger and better cyber security but then would not do shit. Biden could take the trump road but he will not because he is a better man/person than trump any day of the week.

Trump doesn't deserve any blame for degrading American safety while Russia hacks away, but Biden is completely at fault for the Colonial pipeline hack and should be impeached before he takes away our red meat or starts sending christians to LGBT conversion centers.

It's really simple people, jeez

Nobody who has an intellect even approaching that of a human being thinks that an issue affecting a private company exacerbated by moronic panic is Biden's fault. That being said, I haven't met a conservative in 5 years who has an intellect that approaches that of a human being. They're generally more akin to sea slugs.

In the current social and political environment we live in today, divisiveness doesn't help anyone. That is totally not fair....

...to sea slugs

The railroads and military have had dark fiber for decades now. If you have the pipeline right-of-way, you can string your own dark fiber and have NOTHING facing the internet.

I dug in the railroad's own dark fiber alongside the new tracks in Tacoma, and dodged the military's dark fiber while doing it. Some of it was so obscure that nobody wanted to claim it when I first dug it up. It may have been abandoned but nobody wanted to say one way or the other.

Hehe, I bet of you cut through it the claimants would have pounced.

I never broke any but the assholes did not come out and provide locate services. Really handy let me tell you. The very first buckets I took the lid off a buried junction vault. Nobody buries a vault. No locate, so now we are exploring. Find a second vault with fiber between them about 3' away. My trench is laid out to go between them
We made calls and pleas for assistance. Nothing.
So now I dig along this mystery fiber, find it now and again and veer away for 1000 yards.
For the next few months we are always on the lookout.
I had to dig around live network fiber that was supposed to be abandoned per schedule that got pushed back.
My part was 3x2" dark for the railroad on one side of the tracks, and the Big Boys were putting in a 20x2" bank on the other side of the tracks to consolidate the network's fibers.

I worked for an electrical utility that, in addition to annual phishing training, sent out regular "test" emails (with weird links, misspellings, unusual requests etc). If you clicked on a link or responded to it you failed. If you failed more than once you were reported to your manager and if it kept happening it went against you and them.

Seems highly irresponsible for any company or agency managing critical infrastructure to not have a similar system set up. If they won't do it then the government should require it.

The southern epicenter for stupidity, a.k.a. Floriduh, where stations ran out of gas. The only problem is that Colonial pipeline does not supply the gas to stations in Floriduh. Purely self-inflicted by the greedy and stupid.

WTF.
Did you guys get latest Win 10 update or something? Usually takes 3 days for my computer to come back up to speed.

That's the first thing that popped into my head. WTF do they not have they own fiber network. It's not an uncommon practice especially when you have right of way. And keep it off the Fn internet! That place is not safe for things you care about! I see a VPN in my future.

See this shit all over Facebook. I just can't suffer these fools anymore. Society needs to bitch slap them out of their haze. Something needs to be done. This is not healthy for society.
This, except the Facebook part. I don't have that.

Trump 4 putts a green. Caddie finally kicks it in with his foot, and says another Eagle Mr. President.

Biden's fault.
