I don't know if the OP did it by design or just slapped together a poll, but the way he set it up is actually how you're supposed to in a scenario like this. The safe middle option is a well-known issue with surveys and questionnaire. For example, offering a 1 to 5 rating system, it's very well documented that a significant (and disproportionate) portion of those asked will rate something a 3. It's a nice middle pick that doesn't commit you to an actual opinion, doesn't upset anyone etc. A 1-4 range is much more effective because it forces the person answering into giving you an actual answer.

Again, don't know if that's what the OP was going for or not. Incidentally, drawing any kind of conclusion from an internet poll (pokerguy) is highly flawed at best.

I do find it rather interesting that the vast majority of respondents answered the way I would: it's better than some of the other crap out there, it's not too extreme, but it is left-leaning.
