I am a liberal conservative and they seem neutral. Basically they report news and have interesting lives and culture on shows.

I'm a conservative Republican Soldier and they seem pretty balanced to me, too... well, center left, but not uncomfortably so.

NPR is strictly left wing garbage.

Have you ever listened to it? I'm a classical conservative, and other than a couple of the hosts betraying a liberal bent now and again (that one lady in the early afternoon for sure), they are pretty much entirely even-handed. I've heard more than a little bit of criticism of Obama and his administration on there, and not shallow 'he's a commie' criticism but actual well-thought out critiques.

I think modern conservatism (post WFB for sure) has gone on an anti-intellectual bent, whereupon anything in-depth or highly complicated in terms of media/culture is looked upon as 'liberal'.

NPR is miles better than the gasbags who fill most talk radio, and this holds true when comparing to TV 'news' as well. CNN, MSNBC, Fox, etc are about as deep as rice paper.

I am saddened by the conservative movement away from intellectualism, and also it's too bad that there really isn't a TV variant of NPR. PBS TV can be interesting, but other than Frontline it's not very in-depth or current.

It is liberal. But not much. While their artsy craftsy stuff is strictly neutral. They consistently air liberally focused stories on things such as struggling single mothers with 20 children that can't survive on minimum wage, ect. They do air conservative based interviews, just not as frequently.

News Hour is broadcast on PBS. the radiocast is simply the audio of the TV broadcast.

But this is exactly what has happened. The truth is that NPR seems to be one of the few remaining bastions of real, honest journalism.

It's a shame that the true believing conservatives are so terrified by intellectualism, because even the moderate, sensible ones are still easily swayed enough by their loony compatriots to venture into the world of reality from time to time and absorb a bit of culture along with actual news.

Perhaps another problem is that there is a lot of really good international coverage with BBC and The World (BBC can usually be found on most PBS stations). Evoking the sagely Mr Beck, and his dislike and hilarious distrust of an event like The World Cup for being--as he put it directly--"something that the rest of the world likes," today's craziest Palin-type conservatives tend to be completely oblivious to the rest of the world, and automatically distrustful of anything that would dare to reflect a non-US born opinion.

This notion is completely idiotic, and far more damaging to this country than any of the specious boogeyman that their ilk hasten to propagate.

NPR is the Cons worst nightmare. Little evidence has ever been presented for a left bias at NPR, only propaganda from the Noise Machine.

The perception is only exacerbated by the use of NPR personnel by the wonderful folks at Fox News to 'balance' their Wing Nut propaganda. (I will admit, however, that as of late my perception is that Chris Wallace is at least - in minimal fashion - raising to question from time-to-time the typical talking point BS).

What little empirical data that exists proves my point:

Fox Viewers More Likely to Misperceive, PBS-NPR Less Likely

When a lot of their shows is a bunch of liberals laughing and joking about conservatives...yeah, it's VERY liberal. It's not quite as bad as the daily show, but almost. They certainly do toe the liberal agenda line most often when I've listened to them. All talking points, no substance.

Bullsh*t. NPR has more actual, real journalism than all the rest of the network news shows combined. If they appear highly liberal to republicans it doesn't say anything good about republicans' grasp on reality.

What is this reality you speak of? Remember, Obama is the most liberal president ever. /casm

I must be listening to the wrong shows then. Last show I heard was Barny Frank laughing with the host about how stupid republicans are. It was extremely partisian. It really was that bad so I don't listen anymore.

So that turns you off, while I have no problem listening to Rush and Levin talk about "the liberal media" every two sentences? Seriously man up.

The topics that NPR covers are "liberal". But their coverage of any given issue is fair and balanced.

nope. Just the anti-intellectualism. Both sides have their clever little play-on-words that end up amounting to very little.

It's the core of what one does/believes, which lays behind such vocalizations that is truly concerning.
