For those who have actually mowed a lawn - it's a physically demanding activity... especially if you bag the cut grass and have to dump it a few times. While I always complain to my wife that I'm the one doing the lawn mowing so she has to do the dishes/laundry, I wouldn't ever consider letting her mow the lawn... how does a situation like that sit with you guys ?

I've seen a couple of my female neighbors do it and while they are not the frail-type and are probably strong enough, you know it's not easy for them... EDIT>> maybe it is if they're not bagging, didn't watch that closely.

Doesnt take much effort to sit on a John Deere for an hour!

And mulching the cut grass is the best thing to do with it....unless you want to make it look like more work than it is!:):D:p

I guess it also depends on the size of the lawn mower. The one I have is a 6.5hp (larger than the 4.0s) and I don't think most females would be able to push and pull that around for an hour while also emptying the bag a few times.

Of course I would let them if they offered.

However, I have yet to hear a single women or know anyone who has every known of a single women who would voluntarily mow the lawn. It just doesn't happen. Its pathetic the double standards women expect us to live by in this day and age, this is merely one example. On one hand they want to be completely equal, but they want that equality when it benefits them and not when it increases their responsibility.

I know plenty of men who do the dishes, all of them that I know do the laundry. Cooking, cleaning, whatever else you might consider "old fashioned female duties" men do. However, women don't mow the yard. Its as simple as that.

If I come across as bitter, I'm not - I could care less really. I mow the yard and I don't care, I just believe it would be a very cold cold day in hell before I ever saw a women do it of her own free will.

Q: Why do they always put a window above the kitchen sink?
A: So while she's washing the dishes, she can look at the lawn she has to mow.

yep, i think its fine. I would not mind cutting the grass, just as the husband would not mind vacuuming or doing the dishes.

If its not ok for a girl to mow the lawn, its not ok for a guy to do dishes/cooking/laundry/deal with the kids.

Now where is that get back in the kitchen pic...

Besides, get a tractor, and lawnmowing is relaxing. A good hour to yourself free from the outside world. Nice time to think.

My wife expects me to help out with dishes and house cleaning, damn right I'm going to expect her to mow the lawn when needed.
I regularly put in 10+hr days and work weekends so I either pay the local kid to do it or she can have that money to spend as she pleases.

does't mulching the grass mean you get brown specs of grass on top (after it dries out) ?

You need to find better women.

They are not all 98lb, top-heavy bimbos with manicured nails that make physical activity impossible.

This isn't about standards. It's about ability. and how much you're willing to consider that for the person you care about.

My wife always ranges from 95 lbs to 101 lbs in the 11 years I've known her. She likes to mow with a push mower. I'm glad whenever she does it. She has been mowing since about the age of 10 years old. She must have been, what, 14 ounces, at that age? If she could do it then, why is it too "physically demanding" for the average woman?

I can picture a few 130lb females who probably wouldn't be able to do the whole lawn on their own. And I'm not sure what you mean by better.

hmm, it's possible I'm underestimating them by simply looking at their weight/body type... then again, when my wife asks me if she could try and pick my 160lb @$$ up I tell her no because she'll hurt her back.
