Of course I would let them if they offered.

However, I have yet to hear a single women or know anyone who has every known of a single women who would voluntarily mow the lawn. It just doesn't happen. Its pathetic the double standards women expect us to live by in this day and age, this is merely one example. On one hand they want to be completely equal, but they want that equality when it benefits them and not when it increases their responsibility.

I know plenty of men who do the dishes, all of them that I know do the laundry. Cooking, cleaning, whatever else you might consider "old fashioned female duties" men do. However, women don't mow the yard. Its as simple as that.

If I come across as bitter, I'm not - I could care less really. I mow the yard and I don't care, I just believe it would be a very cold cold day in hell before I ever saw a women do it of her own free will.

QFT.

i'd rather do yardwork than housework. so your cold day in hell isn't as far off as you think.

She mows. I mow. It doesn't matter.

And for your info, we have a Toro that was made in 1980. It is not self propelled.

watering flowers and picking up sticks hardly counts as yard work. 😉

ever tried reshingling the roof, paving the driveway, pounding in posts, or digging a 2 ft hole in hard earth?

heh. this thread is about mowing the lawn, and yeh, i mow with a rider and a push mower.

coincidently, i was just up helping my brother put a roof on his camp a couple of weekends ago. so, yeh, i've worked on roofs, too.

who the fvck paves their own driveway? 😕
i have put driveway sealer on though.

and i've helped to put up a fence too, but rented a post hole digger instead of digging the holes manually.

any other questions?

For those who have actually mowed a lawn - it's a physically demanding activity... especially if you bag the cut grass and have to dump it a few times. While I always complain to my wife that I'm the one doing the lawn mowing so she has to do the dishes/laundry, I wouldn't ever consider letting her mow the lawn... how does a situation like that sit with you guys ?

I've seen a couple of my female neighbors do it and while they are not the frail-type and are probably strong enough, you know it's not easy for them... EDIT>> maybe it is if they're not bagging, didn't watch that closely.

what are you trying to say a woman cant perform the same job a man can?
what is this the 1940s?

Women can do any job that a man can.. be it police, Firefighter, US Military, steel workers... etc etc etc..
wtf wouldnt a woman be able to mow the fvckign lawn...
I swear to god some people deserve to be burned at the stake..

methinks you like sitting your ass on the rider while she has to do all the dishes and laundry.
no clue where you got that from... I just want a division of chores... and this was the best way, obviously. I don't have a rider.

You're a huge wuss if mowing a lawn is a particularly strenuous activity to you. You think it's so much harder than pushing a baby carriage around? It's essentially the same thing, unless your lawn is made up of very dense small trees or something.
alright, I didn't expect anything less from you, but I'm going to answer anyway. First, I didn't say it was strenuous to ME. Second, pushing a carriage around is not similar. Believe me, I'd push a baby carriage on cement for hours on end without breaking a sweat. I don't know about you. I have a feeling doing the same thing on grass with a mower along with all the things I've already mentioned that go with lawn mowing would be a bit different. Third, that's it.

hells yes, i have no problem with her doing it.

only problem is, i love cutting my grass so fat chance she'll ever get to. we have a nice Toro pushmower with a Kawasaki engine. vroom vroom! 😀

You call it what you want, my belief in this case is that if she doesn't have to exert herself with something that I can do easily, I won't have her do it instead. It may come across as I'm better-than-you, but if that were my thought process, I'd do everything.

I know girl marines that could bench press you and your mower....
just becasue they a girl doesnt make them unable to do the job...

and on the flip side I know guys that have a hard time pushing a mower as well...

this is true, and I regret that I had it come across as ALL females. I was working off generalizations but those generalizations come from statistics and reality.

uh... obviously men are superior because women were created from a single one of our ribs. so... if we desired it, women could easily be replaced.

ya'll is just ig'nant
