**POLL** iPod Users: Regular Or Mini?

I like my ipod regular.

But nowadays I end up using more of my wife's ipod mini that I gave her.

Color: it doesn't get all that dirty as the all-white regular.
Small: great for going to the gym, especially when doing cardio.

We know the downside of 1) battery life against competition 2) expensive per GB space you get, etc, etc when it boils down to personal preference.

I bought a Rio! Cali 256 with an extra 512MB SD card for around $200.

Yes, it has a fraction of the iPod's storage, but it has no moving parts, is even more portable, has an FM tuner, and can run for 18 hours on one AAA battery.

iPod support's policies are really bad. They limit you to ONE complimentary phone support incident within 90 days of when you bought it. Their one-year warranty has a $30 handling fee after 6 months. Also, if they determine that nothing is wrong with it, they will charge a $100 "diagnostic fee." I'm having an erratic problem (center button stops working) with my iPod and don't want to send it in and risk a $100 fee and get my iPod back with it still broken.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but does anyone have advice? Oh, and in response to the OP, don't buy an iPod...

if you are going to get an ipod go with the normal one over the mini

however there are better players
Creative touch
rio karma
rio carbon - smaller then mini
creative zen micro
iAudio M3/M3L - the M3L has a 35 hour battery life

Only problem w/ the rio carbon is the roller thing seems to be designed for the right hander.. I tend to use my left hand. That and the color is terrible.

the zen micro is interesting, I'd like to see/try it in person.. so far it looks kinda cheap toy.

yea someone complained about that sheel before, but if your right hand that useless that you cant manage to use it?

the micro is solid and very nice, I got one for my sister for xmass, she actually asked to get that one and not a ipod or something else

i have an ipod 3G 15gb. i like it alot but it does get junda bulky. the Mini would be nice but i'd miss the capacity and even the fullsize ones have crappy battery life. if i could get a Mini with 20gb and a 20hr+ batteylife i'd be realy happy. i haven't realy looked into all the new offerings by other companies but a couple look interesting.

yes, my right hand is useless 😛 it's purely a preference thing, which a lot of this mp3 player debate comes down to most of the time.

i've had both, enjoyed the mini more. But I sold that and got a shuffle b/c I found myself only using it when walking to class and at the gym. The shuffle works just fine for that and I don't have to worry about the HD dying when i'm running
