I follow the sport fanatically, but upon a strike I'll have no more than casual interest.

I just hate both sides so much--the players for striking when they're filthy rich, and the owners for saying they're losing money then not showing us their books to prove it.

Why would players agree to that? Teams like the Yankees make all players rich by driving up salaries. I agree it's needed but I don't see that happening. They won't even agree to a 102 mil LUXURY TAX threshold... no way will they OK a hard cap. Not even a soft cap like the NBA has, & it's relatively useless.

If they strike....

I will not buy tickets
I will not but merchandise
I will not watch sportscenter
I will not go to espn.com
I will not say "How bout them mets?" anymore, I will have to subsitute "How bout them cowboys?" in a vain attempt to conversate

Ive been a die-hard mets fan for as long as i can remember...the only reason i would come back after this strike though is it will stop the pain of the Mets season and so if anything i wont feel pain for the rest of the year.

an article i read on cnnsi.com put the point out there that maybe this is what baseball needs...if they strike they will lose fans and teams will collapse and the players might have to see that if they dont lower their salaries they will have to get minimum wage jobs...

but i think i will still follow baseball, but i will probably try and go mainly to minor league games where the greed isnt so big

I'd prefer an option for AMD geeks and people who prefer Basketball and Football to baseball.

the poll is about baseball in the first place, how about just not opening the thread then?

The players are willing to accept luxury tax and revenue sharing in principle, which is good enough for now. Lock the dumb bastards from both sides in a room with no food and come up with percentages and numbers that everyone can live with, this is just stupid.

I will keep watching even if they strike. But I don't think there will be a strike, and definitely not a playoff-cancelling one.

Baseball strikes are getting to be as much of a tradition in baseball as perfect games and record-breaking home run hitters. I'm not going anywhere. I can still read the "baseball news" in the paper, it's just who went 0-for-4 in the strike talks.

It's as much of a business as a game, anyway. You want to watch guys play because they like the game, go watch minor leaguers (a lot of fun, BTW). The baseball business stuff is as whacko as you can get, I enjoy that as a sideline to the actual 9 pro innings. Stienbrenner? Marge? And so on. Part of the game.

Sure, I'd prefer no strike, but I guess it's in my blood.

Just what I was wondering... ;)

To make this post worthwhile, I'll tell the truth and say that I never watch baseball except when I'm at my grandma's house, where she watches it all the freakin' time. :D

Boo, I was just about to post that. :) Seriously, I'll still probably get sucked in, but really, I don't watch that much right now. I work for a minor league team, so I see a lot of those games, but I hardly ever watch major league games on TV, and I haven't seen a major league game in person in a year or two. Basically, I'm with all the people who just turn their attention to the NFL and college football. Baseball really is only useful as a diversion between NFL seasons anyways. If the NFL played year round, no one would care about baseball.
