You could learn all the knowledge of the world in a matter of days by having it uploaded directly to your brain... What possible negatives are there to unplugging (apart from death which is going to happen to you either way)? God, you guys are a bunch of pansies...

Didnt read my post did you...

It doesn't take superpowers like Neo to be able to do those things. Morpheus and Trinity basically learned to bend the laws of physics alittle but just not to the degree like The One can.

If I'm the One, unplug me. Otherwise leave me the fuck alone, I'm having a pretty good time of this.

The One can't free humanity without a little cannon fodder. Come on, be a pal!

Isn't that more like plugging in? Experiencing a false reality?

You win.

Mikemike is a not smart! :D Yay!

I would stay plugged in, probably. It really depends. Can I always plug back in like Neo? Change my appearance as I come back, learn Judo!, fucking come back with all kinds of assault weapons! "KILLING SPREE! UNSTOPPABLE! GODLY! MO-MO-MO-MONSTER KILL!!!" You know, that epic shit? :p Fuck, maybe I could learn how to fly! FUCK YEAH! I'd come back with fake money and buy all kinds of shit! Only makes sense right? If I can come back with guns, then money too! :p

Admittedly, no I did not, but like jtvang125 said, you don't have to be The One to do cool shit. Trinity and Morpheus do some pretty wicked shit, and I seem to remember Niobi does too... And even if you couldn't superman around, you could still load out with all the guns you could ever need, learn shit instantly, and be faster and stronger than virtually everyone except for agents, other programs, and The One. That's a fucking sweet deal compared to anything you could have here... Hell, you could just jack into the construct and have your own personal holodeck.

I guess I'm being beaten by semantics. All I mean by "superpowers" is any increase in ability to what you have now

But... why not, when other people in the same scenario do? There wouldn't be anything stopping you from jacking back in and seeing your pre-unplugging friends and family again, right?

For one thing, I don't think you are grasping the ultimate concept of the matrix.

Going back in to the world, knowing it is all fake - knowing the things being done are meaningless - knowing everyone around you is merely a slave to the machines - it makes all of your relationships, family, everything - completely irrelevant.

Second, plugging back in is dangerous. It's not like a simple video game you can enter and leave without consequences. Agents are constantly hunting you down. You would constantly need to be by a land-line phone (one able to get you out of the matrix).

Again, the ultimate question is whether or not you can accept being a slave - having no "true" control over anything - and living an ultimately meaningless life in a virtual world. Or if you care enough to reject that false reality and embrace the harsh, depressing reality.
