Custom built desktop. Most of the parts were bought in Jan 2008. Velociraptor was added in about a year ago. RAM was upgraded in August.

I'd say roughly a year old. Oldest component is my DVDR, which is probably 2 years old, newest is my 4890, which I bought at launch day.

Bought the following for an X48 build in August '08:
Case: Cooler Master Praetorian
CPU: QX9770
MB: GA-X48T-DQ6
Two lots of RAM (the first lot errored a lot with Memtest)
HDD; 1TB
GPU: HD4870 X2

I then bought a bigger case (Lian li PC-A70A) and liquid cooling components last December. Shortly after this, I dropped the CPU on the floor (and killed it) in the New Year when I was re-building the rig for the liquid cooling.

I then waited several months (July/August '09) and bought:
2x 24" Monitors;
A second HD4870 X2; and
New CPU, MB, RAM, 2x HDDs and 1x SSD.

So, basically I bought the components for two high-end computers within a year.

I have several:

1. Mac Mini that I just bought for home theater duty.
2. MacBook Pro (bought June 2007) that I use for general use at home.
3. Homebuilt Core 2 Quad box with 8GB RAM running Vista that I use for gaming (when I am gaming) and general use. This machine is about 6-8 months old or so.
4. Homebuilt Core 2 Duo currently running Linux Mint (it was running Vista also and used for gaming, when I was playing EVE a while back, but it got recently repurposed). This machine is also about 6 months old.

Hmm, I built it around early 2007 I think. Amd Athlon 64 X2 4800 with 2gb ram.

Put an AMD Athlon 4850 in there last summer after my Sapphire Nvidia card died a bad death.

It's fascinating that not everyone on one the most advanced tech site in the world doesn't have the latest stuff. Bunch of frugal folk? I have several but little current. I like to buy 1-3 year old tech for economy.

I use a tick-tock cycle. One year I replace the cpu/mb/ram, etc. The next year I replace the video card, and so on.

Then i was offered a 975 b4 launch again to play with.
Now im on 32nm gulftown.

So do i count?

I'm sure the folks in the tech forums would have a slightly different skew, I'd guess ATOT as a whole probably doesn't care as much about cutting edge/overclocking/Current budget gaming rigs as much as the people in the technical forums do.
