poll: how much RAM in your main pc

Ok please tell me, what purpose does having 4 gigabytes in a desktop PC have? I can understand having it in a server PC. Hell I can understand 1 or 2 gigs in a PC that's used for a lot of 3D editing and video editing but I can not see the point of anything beyond that.

voted 256. I had 512, but I cannibalized a stick of 256 in there for my new linux box. Unfortunately, what I didnt know is that the board was defective and it fried it... now my main machine lags.....there should be an optioin in this poll that says "not enough".......

For video you can never have too much ram,having a movie in ram cuts the time by over 100% just on ripping alone, on compression and editing the increase is much greater.
