1.5GB On main computer
1.0 GB on main laptop
512MB in laptop i don't use anymore p2 400
192 in another laptop i don't use. p2 433

64Mb in Xbox
I think tivo's have 32MB so
32 Tivo 1
32 Tivo 2

And my cd player has 8mb of cache. <- haha i don't know if this is right but just wanted to be dumb

2 gigz, only because I bought RAM while building my dad's computer, and for some reason it didn't work in his but did in mine. So he's like "Well just take this Ram and buy ones that work in mine". An Extra gig never hurt =)

Linux23, why so much RAM?? Do you do a lot of Photochopping or video editing? If not that's a big waste.

1gig

More than 1 gb is just a waste in the average desktop users computer.
Running a server,(i.e. database, or web) is just about all that its really necessary for.
Those who disagree, do us all a favor and at least tell us what you are using it for, because it wont be something the average user uses. Simply stating "More ram is always good" shows everyone your ignorance.

I've got CAD, Photoshop, 3D Studio Max and an assortment of other memory hogging programs. I still need more RAM. I want a dual A64 system, but we will see next year if the budget allows.

Understood 🙂 Don't blame you then.

Maybe he came across as grumpy but he's right. Only those running a server or doing video editing or Photoshop need over a gig of RAM.

Newsbin requires alot of Ram if you want it to run decently on alt.binaries.dvd for legal backups of course.

Sorry if that sounded grumpy, but... I currently work as a tech until i find a better job, and it amazes me how the engineers I work for come to me for advice (because I know what I am talking about) and then proceed to buy 2 gb of ram and talk about getting 4 gb for their home machines. There excuses are lame, but they have the money. If they want to waste there cash on a gig of ram that they will never use so be it. They are better off getting a better video card or cpu. 2 GB will be necessary eventually for the common user, but the probability is almost 100% that it wont be in that computers lifetime.

I WILL ADD THIS BEFORE I START TO GET HARASSED:
Some of you will have legitimate reasons to have more than a gigabyte of ram! I dont doubt that. Those who do, will obviously know they need more! You dont need to tell me what you are doing with your 1+ gigs.
