Hey the website says the ideal weight for a 6' 3" man is 175. I've always believed the real test though is if you can bench press more than your body weight, than you are ok.
Not really, a guy 6'3" should be able to bench 175 lbs once fairly easily, especially on a machine where he doesn't need to use his stabilizer muscles.

A guy who's in shape with decent muscle tone, or a regular every day schmo? Maybe they SHOULD be able to, but I highly doubt the average guy at 6'3" these days can bench 175 easily. 175 is pretty damned skinny for someone at 6'3". My father is 6'3" about 180 and he's incredibly skinny.
A guys who's in shape with decent muscle tone would weigh a lot more than 175 lbs @6'3"

From what I've seen thin guys tend to be a little stronger than fat out of shape guys so I'd guess (just a guess mind you) that someone 6'3" should be able to bench 175 lbs at least once especially on a weight machine.

I'm 6'4 @ 230 lbs - A few years back I was at 325 lbs or more.

I started going to the gym lifting weights and running and went up from 225 lbs to 230 lbs. Hopefully it is muscle I put on and not fat :) However I still have 10-15lbs of fat around my gut and handles I need to get rid of.

But then, I'm a body builder.
What kind of BB is 6' 210 LBS? Not one that is very competitive. How much would you weigh it you cut down for a competition, 190? Not very big for a Body Builder.

Define "bodybuilder" ?

"Bodybuilding is the process of developing muscle fibres through the combination of weight training, increased caloric intake, and rest. Someone who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder. As a sport, called competitive bodybuilding, bodybuilders display their physiques to a panel of judges, who assign points based on their aesthetic appearance."
I think the general consensus is that a Body Builder is one who competes, not someone who weight trains.

I build my body, therefore I am a body builder.

No, I don't compete. I have no desire to do so.

Is a runner only a runner if he participates in organized races? Is a skiier only a skiier if he participates in organized skiing events?

BTW, I am all natural. So no I'm not huge like the pros who are sitting on needles. But I'm pretty damn big for my frame. 18.5 inch arms are nothing to sneeze at.

I am 6'2" and weigh 208. I am physically active, I swim at least a mile a day or play 3 games of racquetball during lunch. I play hockey at least once a week and run in 5K races several times a year. I have a pretty well set daily diet. The only thing that changes much is what I have for dinner. I know I could tone up my stomach a bit. I just
need to start doing crunches or situps. I should also do some daily running. Just not motivated to do the running. Perhaps getting my Daughter running with me, will help.
I feel that I could lose at least 13 pounds.

You guys are weighing yourself on 'decent' scales and in the morning after your toilet visit right? If not that weight is not your 'real' weight.

5'10" @ 85Kg, 187lbs morning weight. Weight goes up to 88Kg 193.6lbs after a few days of heavy eating and drinking :p.

I should weigh at least 94Kg 206.8lbs as an olympic style weight lifter for my height. But f0ck me it is a lot of effort to eat that much food day in day out for months on end. It took enough effort to go from 77kg to 85kg. Hell or even 105kg, 231lbs but that would be a ridiculous size at 5'10". I think I'll stay at 85Kg and just get better lifts and lean out. If my body packs on weight I may go to 94Kg but that will screw with my other sports...

I'm quite underweight even though I am muscled.

85Kg means it is easier for me to get a double bodyweight Clean and Jerk :)

These things are always ridiculous. It says I should be ~170lbs, and I've been 170lbs before. No thanks. I was a tiny, frail little man, and I'm much happier to be around 200lbs. I'm hoping I can hit about 210 remaining ~15% body fat or less, on average.

Body weight guide

That chart can't be right, I'm 185 6'3", which would make me 10lbs overweight. Following the Body Mass Index, I'm a 24, (25 is normal) and Here it says ideal weight is 195!!!

Most charts are for relativelly 'non active' office type of job workers. Not for sports freaks or guys that train 3-5+ a week! Of course if your 10-20lbs more then the standards measurements and you don't have a gut and your in relatively good shape and train your not overweight! If your 10-20lbs overweight train and you still have a gut your a bit overweight. You shouldn't have a gut unless your a sumo guy.

If your physically fit and do running, swimming, cycling etc and you have a gut your still a bit overweight no matter how fit you are. Some people care and others don't. Others like exercise and drink and eat a lot of crap :p

Being overweight has no bearing on your fitness level. Not having a gut is no bearing on being healthy also...

Body weight guide
6' 4" --> 180lbs

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If I was 180lbs, I would be one skinny motherfvcker. A buddy of mine used to weigh like 180lbs, near 190lbs and he wasn't even 6' IIRC.

I'm 250lbs, if I had to guess I could probly lose about 20lbs or so, but I lift a lot and can bench more than my body weight, so I'm not too far behind.

Yeah 180 is too skinny for 6'4".

I'm 6'4" and I hover between 195 and 205.
I could probly get closed to 200lbs if I really tried, but I'm just a big dude. I've been lifting pretty steadily for the last 4-5 years, my legs are like tree trunks and I've got a strong upper body. I don't think I'd want to see 200lbs, but the 220-range would be nice.

One of these days...<throws Arby's cup in the trash>

BMI is totally flawed and should never be considered. Most currently used height/weight ratio charts are also flawed, and should be ignored. Trying to convince people of that when I was working in the gym was harder than getting them to exercise and eat right.

Body types differ, and those charts do not account for it. Nor do they account for muscle mass. Just after high school I was under 10% bf for sure (not sure exactly, but definitely under). I had a 28inch waist, no extra padding anywhere, was 5'10", and weighed about 205. After all the education becoming a trainer, and experience working in the gym, I've learned that on my frame and with my density this is simply my ideal weight. I know other people who are 5'11" with very toned bodies who have ideal weights closer to 170lbs. *shrug* That's just the way it is; people are different and there is no 'right answer' (like most everything else in the world).

That thing is wack. I'm 6' and it says I should be 160lbs (which I do happen to be) but I'm trying to gain wait... maybe a nice solid (low body fat %) 180... which is still "normal" on the BMI scale.

I'm 5' 9", 158 lbs. Ideally I'm supposed to 145lbs. I'm having enough trouble finding 30" waist pants. Ideal people must go through hell.

These sedentary calculators should at least mention that they are for nonactive people.

I'm about 45 pounds overweight. I'm not terribly worried about it though, the doctor says I'm very healthy and not relaly at risk for anything.

I've been trying to lose some of it, but these things take time. I've cut down on portions, cut soda completely, and I've been going to the gym. My calorie intake is way below what I'm expending daily, but nothing has really been happening...

At 6'1" I am supposed to be 165lbs? That means I am 85 lbs overweight!
On the poll I clicked 25 to 50.

Supplement with Optimum Nutrition Whey, fish oil, green tea.

But you may be gaining muscle/bone/tissue while losing fat. But the above will accelerate both if your doing some casual visits to the gym.

What website are you guys talking about? I don't see a link in the OP.

Having lost 22 pounds over the past 3 months thru a lifestyle change (diet AND exercise), I can proudly say that I'm very little overweight. :)

6'1", 209 pounds. I'd like to get to 202-205, but it's very difficult at this point. I don't "diet." I eat whatever I want, but sane portions. Not what I WANT to do, but it's what I know I have to do.

That, coming from someone who used to eat a 12-piece Dominos Buffalo Wings AND almost ALL of 2 medium pizzas...and wash it down with a beer or 6.

I dunno, it was just the 2nd link off google. I didn't mean for it to be a definitive guide, just a ballpark thing.

Technically, I used to be 170 before summer, but now that I've started working out I've lost a lot of fat and gained pounds of muscle, I'm about 195, which would make me like 10 pounds overweight, but I still look MUCH better than I do when I was 170.... so... yeah.

EDIT: I am 6' tall.

I'm 6'1 and 235. I'd like to be down to 190 including muscle, so I'm about 45 pounds overweight.
