yup, Its a requirement to recieve federal aid. for college. Unless your female.

I'm amazed that somehow it has withstand court challenges for being obviously sexist.

Yup. Registered when I turned 18 a while back. I'm not aware that you can really exersize rights in the US if you are male and havent registered. Voting, employment, college aid, taxes (IIRC) all ask if you have registered or not. I don't see how you could get by without it.

you can also get out of it, as a native american conscientious objector. i found this out after i registered though. when does it "expire?" when you're 26?

I'm registered, but if there was a draft for one of Bush's sham wars, I would try ANYTHING (even jail) before I end up like this.

The casualties in Iraq, as a percentage of the total number of troops over there, have been rather light. I'd rather take that small chance than the much larger chance of getting @ss-raped in jail. Especially after the other inmates hear what you are in for. I would guess that you'd be on the short list, with the pedophiles.

We're not going to have a draft for Iraq, silly. Yes, 1100 soldiers is a retively low amount of deaths. Even the 9000 wounded is a low number of wounded.

But the bodies will pile up if Bush decides to go into Iran.

Registration is required of all males between the ages of 18 thru 26. If you did not register during this period, legal action can be taken against you if you are caught within five years after you turn 26.
