friend of mine has about 500 dvd's, he works at a store where people trade in music cds / dvd's, so he gets a lot of cheap used dvd's since he works their. his collection is insanely huge, an entire wall is filled with dvd's.

that sucks man.. sorry to hear... i am a movie freak, so i plainly buy any movie i like, (when I have money ofcourse). I can't think of the day that I will have to sell all my dvds because I am broke

I"m having to do this now. I had well over 100+ dvd's and now only have 53 left. Sucks to be broke and have bills to pay.

I have a fair collection going right now I have been slowing down lately, though. I have most of what I want that's out there now, and quite a bit of the Must Haves are OOP and a pain in the arse to find.

One thing I'd like to add for serious movie fanatics: what is the crown jewel of your collection? (limited editions, hard to finds, etc)

Personally, I have a Limited Edition of Army of Darkness (1743/4000).

I own 10-20. I buy those that I only plan on watching multiple times. I don't believe in "collecting" a thoroughly unrare item if I'm not likely to actually get my use out of it.

Exactly. This is no different than comparing cars, homes, jobs, salaries, or computer systems. I just like it because I have an interest in it and am near the top of the heap.
